Just wondering, How did your PC come to gether? (Only used Builds)

PartyWire

Hej, so i was really bored and i was thinking about my PC and i noticed. My Pc is 90% Used parts, and 50% of that 90% is stolen from my school. I was wondering how some of the used builds have come together. Give me the most interesting ways you got a PC part. I got My GPU as a dead one, but got it fixed 4 months later.

If you need help on used parts, contact me. I'm an used enthusiast.

Bought a big box tower in 2007, and gradually upgraded that thing into what it is today. The only original part that remains is one of  the hard drives.

Built it in March 2016, with no gpu. Added 660 in October, bought Rx 470 in February. Sold 470 to the miners in July. Put 660 back in. Still waiting.

My second hand Mac Pro 1,1 came with 6 GB of RAM, 8800 GT, ancient 160 GB HDD and two dual core Xeon 5150s. I upgraded it with 32 GB of RAM (eBay), GTX 660 (Finnish reseller), new 120 GB SSD, 1TB HDD from a prebuilt AMD PC that was dumped to rain by a random teenager (he hopefully ascended to a proper custom build) and two quad core Xeon X5355s (eBay). I also had to order a second power cable for the GTX 660 (eBay) and additional heatsinks for the RAM, as the basic spreaders aren't adequate to allow the Mac stay quiet. The overall cost ended up somewhere around 350 euros, of which 165 euros is the initial cost of the Mac.

That's a really interesting build, I'd love to build in a mac, but i can't due to the lack of Mac pro's in my country.

Anyways, my PC came together like this:

1. Bought a used i5-750 Dell

2. Bought it a new HDD

3. Bought some new RAM

4. Bought a used 7950

5. Bought an RX 470

6. Sold RX 470 for $300 because miners

7. Back to my 7950

8. 7950 started to die, used the OEM HD 8490 the Dell came with

9. Bought a used 5870 1gb on vacation

Next step will either be a 970 (might have my hands on one soon, we'll see) or Ryzen 3 (or both or neither, I don't know yet).

No, it's not the performance that killed it. Maybe it was my overclock (even though I didn't touch anything voltage related) or just the worst timing possible, but it now artifacts and is super unstable when under heavy load. It's a Sapphire Dual-X card, that's all the info I have.

Good chunk of my hardware is used parts bought off tech forums boards.

To give a simple run down.

None of CPUs where bought new.

Half of my GPUs where bought used.

One of my PSU was bought used.

Half of my HDDs and SDDs where bought used.

Only one case I have was bought new, the other six where bought used.

All my motherboards where bought used.

Most of my RAM sticks where bought used.

Half my water cooling hardware was bought used.

I just don't like paying full price for hardware.
