Same with the 1080 above.

Unless you underclock and undervolt it, just like in laptops.

Speaking of which, probably not gonna happen but I'd be interesting if Nvidia allowed to sell Max Q chips for desktop cards to get really tiny 1080s as small as maybe even single slot and such.

The question is does a super underclocked 1080 still perform better than a 1070 of the same size or in the same laptop :P

I'd need to see testing but my guess is that it probably would: More cuda cores at lower clock > less cuda cores at a higher clock. Up to a point of course but for something like 1070 vs 1080 is close enough that this applies mostly.

It's weird that they didn't use a reference-style cooler.  They're obviously for ITX builds, and pushing the air straight out of the case is best for that.

The laptop one is basically in open air.  The bottom collapses when you open it.

A highish-end single slot card would be the dream.

Actually a single slot card period would be the dream. What does a GTX 1050 need with a freaking dual fan iCX/Windforce/STRIX cooler? Even GT 1030s have two slot configurations for no apparent reason.
