Just use the BIOS to set the fan curve.. very easy, dependant upon bios of course, but usually very easy. What board do you have?

I second this.

Unless the software can persistently set the fan curve somehow, use BIOS to keep it. Otherwise you have to launch the app to have the fan curve and I find that annoying.

The ?ios fan support is gar?age, there is only "smart fan" where if the cpu is a?ove 50 degrees it turns into a jet engine.  naturally i would tho

Edit: its an old giga?yte mother?oard

Agree, IMO there's nothing worse than having to launch processes at boot, just to set the fan curve is even worse. It also means that up 'til that point your fans could be going nuts.

I don't like a constant ramping up/down of fans personally, so I have mine set at 40% mimum, then when/if it reaches say 50c, then they ramp up to 50/60% and so on.... that way if I'm just doing something light on my system it should only be about 40% ... nice and quiet for just web browsing etc.

Gigabyte isn't very good with fan controls. Period. Only their newest boards are starting to get in same level that Asus had few years ago. You are stuck with Speedfan. Good thing is that you only need to set it up once and then you can just forget it.

We are talking about CPU fan, though. And probably case fans too. Unlike GPU fan (which has ton of RivaTuner clones), those use mobo chips. For which Speedfan has for long been only alternative. I could check what you actually can do with CAM. Last time I used it, was when it was on Beta.

Ok I dont have any PWM fan headers on my mobo right now but I may get a cheap Z170 board
