H0R53
Go to solution Solved by Tsuki,

there are a few that are flamboyently outspoken and annoy the fuck out of everybody else. it gives the entire group a bad name.

animated, talking animals. big diffrace to people running around in fursuits, haveing sex with other people in fursuits and so on. the art is then connected to that culture and therefor hated aswell. its quite diffrent from disneys animation style aswell, being close to manga/anime with its big eyes and exadurated character

That's not necessarily true about the art style.

There's a lot of different art styles, and some artists even like to stay true to the Disney-esque style.

I can think of a lot of different ones, hyperrealism being my favourite.

Troll accusations are against the community standard.

Please can we steer clear of any arguments? I can see one start. Also, keep discussions of said artists and that site to either PMs or off-site, please.

Sounds like someone's uncomfortable about furries.

Just kidding. I won't talk about it any more.

(Read my profile, there's a little snippet of info there :P)

Nah, these forums have been listed as a NSFW site before because people posted too much porn, so any accidental links and such may cause that to happen again.

If a site contains enough links to anything nsfw that is known by google, it'll get flagged as a nsfw by itself. PMs are exempt because they cannot be access by anything really unless they're reported.

I'm out of college so I have no interest, I keep all my pr0n on my 1.5TB RAID0 array.

539 files, 4 folders, 532mb.

LOL.

Back when I had a Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition, I had a 90GB OCZ Agility 3, and a 500GB drive for games.

It was more like 13,000 files, 260 folders, and 13.6GB.

The furry fandom is a subculture interested in fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes.

Okay, so mainly the furries people hate on are the one's that straight up walk around and interact in costume, or are into that. Noone, i repeat, noone is gonna be against someone who is interested in fucking stuart little or the like. That definition is so conservative it covers 50% of cartoon characters...

Those are extreme examples by people that the general furry community despise.

Sexual attraction to furry characters is a polarizing issue met with vehement opposition within the fandom; in one survey with 4300 furry respondents, 37% answered that sexual attraction is important in their furry activities, 38% were ambivalent, and 24% answered that it has little or nothing to do with their furry activities.

So 63% of furries are subjectively normal people.

In a different online survey, 33% of furry respondents answered that they have a "significant sexual interest in furry", another 46% stated they have a "minor sexual interest in furry", and the remaining 21% stated they have a "non-sexual interest in furry". The survey specifically avoided adult-oriented websites to prevent bias.

A portion of the fandom is sexually interested in zoophilia (sex with animals), although a majority take a negative stance towards it.

That majority are the subjectively normal people within the fandom.

Liking anthropomorphic characters is not abnormal for people in the slightest.

Sexually liking anthropomorphic characters for their animalistic qualities is.

I personally don't like them, but don't hate them either.

IMHO they are just weird and I live in a country where weird is "normal".

So basically what you're saying is that if you have watched for example the Lion King and enjoyed it then you're a furry? Come on...

When someone hears the word furry then instantly think of the people who are sexually attracted to anthropomorphic animals. Even according to the surveys you yourself quoted, less than 25% of furries said it was not a sexual thing. That means over 75% do have some sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals. The surveys also seemed pretty biased by themselves since they specifically avoided certain websites because that would raise the number of people thinking it was sexual. I mean, it certainly would raise the percentage but there is no way of knowing if that number would have been more or less accurate.

Imagine if 95% of the furry community only cared about porn and were all located on the same website.

You can't just go "oh we want to avoid skewing the results so we will only ask on this website where 5% of the community is. Oh look, it's 50/50 if they like furry porn or not".

A statistic like that could be presented as 50% for and 50% don't care about furry porn. The real and accurate number would actually be 97.5% thinks porn is an integral part, and 2.5% does not.

So those surveys are fairly meaningless since they come from a biased sample, and even then the non-sexual crowd was a rather small minority. Depending on the wording the numbers might be even lower. For example if the survey asked if they thought sexual attraction was an important part of being a furry they are no longer answering what they prefer, but rather what they think is acceptable.

Think of it like this, if someone asked me if I thought being homosexual was OK I would say yes. That does not mean I am homosexual however. Depending on how the question was worded you will get two different statistics which might sound like they mean the same but, but actually mean completely different things.

Anyway, it's not just people on Reddit that hate furries (as in, people who are sexually attracted to anthropomorphic animals). Pretty much everyone does. Abnormal sexual fetishes are almost always looked down on by society as a whole. In the case of furries, the expectations of how they act (based on how some furries act and events that have happened) also makes people resent you even more. Furries are known for being weird and obnoxious. You might not be, but the general perception of furries is that they are.

You better get used to it, because the more communities you go to the more you will realize that it's not just Reddit.

Reddit is just 4chan for sophisticated neckbeards tbh

When it comes to furries, I'm indifferent. I'm also not going to pretend it's rainbows and butterflies to defend something full of degeneracy lol.

Like please don't pretend the fandom isn't pretty sexualized. I have lots more respect for a lewd furry than one constantly sweeping things under the rug to maintain some non-existent image. Just be honest dudes and dudettes it's cool.

Not just Reddit

I agree, much more of the internet than just Reddit hates furries. I'm not sure if 95% is quite accurate, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's close.

What furries are, really? Honest question.

For all I have seen, I just assumed furries were people with a "fetish" for ficticious animals, like cartoons or game characters.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.
