worth getting a dark rock 3 or should I stick with 212 evo?

Pepega

Hi,

Just wondering how much improvement in temps will I get if I replace my hyper 212 evo to a dark rock 3? Currently, running a 7700k and I would like to lower my temps.

Also, I prefer getting a dark rock 3 because I don't like big coolers like NH-D14/15 and dark rock pro 3.

Thanks

I think it would be a decent improvement. 5C cooler while being 5 dB quieter is quite decent.

legit lol'ed. but I think the temps are hot cause its summer. Before, I used to run at 4.8 with max temps being 82C. if you ask me not bad for a 212 evo.

@Daniel Z. @DocSwag

Also, is there any other coolers you guys recommend that is max 160mm? I think the best one is DR3.

I know of some beasts, but they are over 160mm..DR3 is pretty solid tbh

Scythe Fuma would be small dual tower, but I'm pretty sure DR3 is quieter.

It comes with small tube. Top level pastes are within 2C of each other. My personal go-for is Noctua NT-1.

You are good with tube that comes with cooler. If you need more, Arctic Silver and MX-5 are the ones people usually recommend. But neither has such performance gain that your really should get tube just because of it.

Actually, it is :D (and if you're buying the DRP3 from Amazon as well, then you've already satisfied the $25 minimum for the shipping as a Prime member).

Much simpler to get it delivered to your door if you don't mind waiting a couple days/weeks (depending on product) for delivery (YMMV if product is shipping up from the USA via USPS).

Well of course there's water cooling :P

DR3 is probably among the best for air cooling under that height tho

leaks are pretty scary, although corsair/nzxt do cover damaged parts. I think there is a certain limit on how much they will reimbursed you.

Honestly chances are quite low imo but DR3 is also cheaper so... :P

I am personally very happy with my Dark Rock 3, installation was about what you would expect. Not the easiest thing ever, but very do able (I installed it by myself)
