issue never existed before tonight. Its not the fault of Safari. Also Chrome is terribly power inefficient. Switching browsers also does not fix the problem.

Not sure what your mac OS experience is like. But Safari is a fantastic browser! And I'd doubt that would resolve the issue any way.

tbf it does score very high in terms of compatibility and it is the most efficient browser. It just doesn't support 4K YouTube videos atm.

This is the only sight that really gives me any kinds of crashes or bugs.

It's good to know people at Apple can't count either (100.8% just with Safari).

On serious note, are you getting this on whole site or just when loading certain threads?

In Mac OS 100% indicates one core fully utilised, 200% two and so on.

Eh, not really helping to troubleshoot. Like, is this thread causing it? Are all threads castings it? Or is it just some, and which ones?

Threads with lot of linked content tend to make browsers struggle. One of my blog posts is good example of bringing my desktop at halt.

The most recent thread it happened in was just text.

I think LTT was just having a derp moment. The rest of the websites I had open were fine.

That only uses about 15-20% on my virtual box macOS install, though it was higher initially. In chrome, having lots of gifs on the page, as is the case on that topic, causes the CPU usage to increase significantly, and since it seems to be that topic rather than all pages on the site, that's probably the issue here too. Unfortunately there's not much that we can do to fix that short of disallowing the use of gifs, which is obviously not something that would be very popular.

Since your's is a 1st gen Mini, it probs only has 512MB or at the most 1GB (but I think that was with the A5X chip, not the normal A5) of RAM, and Chrome is a resource hog. It runs fine on my MacBook Pro, but it's got 16GB RAM (and the iMac I work on has 8).
