1070 vs 580

GTA V is like a 2013 console port.

I wouldn't call it a console port... It's a very well optimized game, the only problem with it is that it favors Nvidia GPUs quite a bit :D

tbh its a low quality unit so I wouldn't pair it with any gpu mentioned. i have yet to see a non 80 bronze unit that is good.

where are you buying from

what is your budget to spend

you could try spend other parts cheaper like a cheaper mobo for example to save cost and get a good psu and gpu

Im sure the psu has an 80+ bronze on the side, will take a picture later, the name could be wrong

Does gameworks matter to you? If yes, you should go with the 1070. The 1070 is a better performer than the rx 580 and also is optimized for gameworks. In fact I would choose a 1060 in place of a 580 just for gameworks.

buy 1060 or 1070, i would never buy a 580 just because it consumes power like a truck

Its TDP is 185W, which is only about 20W more than the RX 480. You could pair this with am i7 7700k or a Ryzen 1700 and still run comfortably off a 430w power supply with room to spare. The GTX 1070 uses about 150w

The GTX 1060 uses about 120w, but it doesn't make a difference. Good sub-400w power supplies rarely have the required PCIe cables required to power the card, and adapting off Molex is always a stupid idea. So no matter whether your card's wattage is, you'll need a 430+ watt power supply, simply because good PSUs below that rarely have the required connectors. And with a 430w PSU, you can pair a 120w, 150w, 165w, or 180w GPU with any consumer CPU and still have room to spare- between 50w and 125w.

And it's further invalidated because a good 520/550w power supply is often just as cheap, adding 90w to 120w more headroom. The SeaSonic S12ii 520w costs the same as the S12ii 430w, and the Corsair CX550m is often on sale for as cheap as the Corsair CX450M.

75w of headroom with R7 1700 + RX 580 (95w with a GTX 1070, 125w with a GTX 1060. All are enough headroom)

Please do check, but I haven't seen any decent Aerocool PSU at all. So keep in mind. @Energycore could shed some light here regarding Aercool in general and everything else, smartest bird I've ever known

Aerocool isn't an insta avoid, their strike-x series is fine. But their low end shit is pretty bad

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
