They are stalling. A bunch of press events as well as live streams, and all they show so far is some stupid spinning VEGA logo and some fail game demo.

They're still 900% higher than their 2016 low.  AMD is "fine" for now.

 

As for Vega, haven't most of the leaks been pointing at about the 2nd week of June for a while? Computex "reveal" then launch 1-2 weeks after? 

 

Considering how long they've had with Vega (probably for yield reasons with HBM2), I just hope the Drivers are top-notch on Day 1.  We're going to get some really funny results if they are.

Yeah there's no signs that it'll be delayed. Given how they've talked about VEGA tons now but have been firm in not doing a launch yet leads me to believe that they're waiting until production is ready and stock has built up enough to do a hard launch. And middle-end of Q2 was always sort of the target date.

My only concern is HBM2 supply from SK Hynix. They were supposed to have 2.0GBps modules at 1000Mhz ready by Q3 2016; however their latest catalogue only shows the slower 1.6Gbps modules ready for Q1 2017.

If Vega's top card is going to have 512GB/s mem bandwidth it needs two 2.0Gbps modules.


So either AMD had to resort to the slower 1.4Gbps ones, or SK Hynix have an exclusive deal to only supply AMD at the moment; hence 2.0Gbps modules are not on the normal catalogue.

Either way, it won't be long now before we find out what Vega is really packing.

thats why the Es of vega we see is running 700mhz memory clock

It's very possible the entire 2.0Gbps stack is eaten up by AMD & Nvidia for the top of the line server chips and top Vega. We could see the 1070 competitor having the lower version.  (Which would make some sense, actually.)

NVIDIA have been using Samsung's 1.4Gbps modules, which is why their Tesla with 4 modules doesn't have 1024GB/s bandwidth, and instead maxes out at 732GB/s.

 

I don't mind the lower end versions of Vega having the slower HBM2, just worried SK Hynix might end up having delayed Vega.
