Wait for all next gen?

Country: Ireland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming, software dev and light 3d modeling

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 

Upgrading from 2700x, 2080 base model, 32gb @300mhz.

 

The current plan was 7800x3d, 4080 super, 32gb 6000mhz CL30.

I've seen some stuff saying 5000s series gpus before Q2 next year and 8000s amd cpus this year. My plan was to build in august-october, or would i be better waiting till the next series come out?

If you're able to wait, it's probably not a bad idea. Your current system is on the older side, but the parts certainly aren't obsolete.

 

As long as the system is still meeting your needs, I'd say you should keep waiting on the upgrade. Tech is basically a reverse investment - parts are only going to get cheaper in the long run. So in general, the longer you wait, the better computer you can build at a given price point.

exactly, the specs aren't terrible, maybe the CPU, but even the CPU isn't completely bad, it's actually better than higher Zen 5600x in Blender for example:

tbh the cpu isnt my main concern, just want some of the better features from the newer gpus mainly more vram and the better dlss.

you got 2080, not terrible, but I understand if you want to play fresh games on good graphics and fps
