For a Japanese publisher, this is actually pretty "open" to Streaming.  Decent rules and they have certain rights to their creation.  Whole lot better than Nintendo, haha.

Mr. T was a wrestler not an anime character. He also stared in shows like the A Team. I wouldn't doubt it though if he was featured in one though.

True, but how much of an impact does it make? Just like heavy-handed anti piracy measures I'm certain its not so widespread an issue that preventing the entire game from being shown on streams and videos is going to push many sales considering they're interested in watching it instead of going out and buying it anyway.

Even before I tried a Persona game I heard about it.  I didn't know what Witcher was until the 2nd game, and it was a few years after it was released.

Maybe they already have a contract for Persona 5 anime series or movie in the works?  Not just the prologue special. I mean that would explain the very specific and stringent guidelines. It's like their reciting the Japanese copy right laws.

Likely the same impact imo. Pricay works to secure initial sales, after that it almost doesnt matter. 

Same woth block full game streams, secure initial sales then after some time let them stream the whole thing.

If a company said that was the reason they were stopping streams or putting up content ID claims I'd have little issue with it.

Be honest with us and say "We put a lot of our time and money into making this. If you want to experience the content we made then pay for it."

I can totally understand wanting people to pay for the content you made, especially when that is how you make a living.

 

If I made movies, games, TV show, music ect and found someone distributing the content (or a version of the content that was fulfilling enough that people would not buy the original) to thousands of people I might try to stop them as they could be hurting my ability to support my family.

The only thing that would stop me from shutting down such people is if I thought it was helping me, that it was good, free, advertising and could result in more interest and sales than what was lost from the people who felt satisfied from the free version they got.

Yeah, on Xbox and PS4. Wonder why? Cause they can control streaming on Xbox and PS4. They threaten content creators with content claims if they upload videos to YouTube after the date, but they legally can't enforce that. They can revoke user's game access if it breaks the TOS (VERY crappy thing to do, but it's legal,) but they can't take down gameplay videos of their games if they have commentary (in the US.)

I think this mentality is a bit silly - what's to stop me from spoiling the game in a blog or post? If somebody wants to find out the plot of the game without playing it regardless of stringent content ID enforcement they will do so. Imo all this does is make a good excuse for censoring content that is critical of the game just like Terraria or a number of Nintendo games. It's their product, but man I hate game devs that only censor some content and not others. I say they allow any content or they might as well blanket ban all of it. All or none.

That exactly is my problem. They shouldn't have the free advertisement from YouTube if they are going to go and censor the content they don't like. It's the kind of double standard that makes me avoid game companies like this one.

I'm speaking specifically about censorship in this case. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, I think it's ridiculous for a company to maintain videos that will rake in money and strike down ones that are critical in nature or could potentially lessen the amount of people who will buy the game. If they want the advertisement that inherently comes with allowing games to be played and streamed online, they should allow all of the content to be up. Otherwise they are misconstruing the contents and popular opinion of the game by selectively censoring content. If they don't want the game spoiled in videos or streams (meaning they want to selectively censor certain content), then they shouldn't allow them at all.

For a lot of people (myself included) just watching the story is fine enough. Some games like fallout and skyrim I play on god mode because im not interested in the gameplay and just want to discover all the story bits.

It's idiotic if it is. 

They're asking for protection of the game. Atlus doesn't need advertisement from Youtube or Twitch, they have plenty of fans by themselves and word of mouth. It's not like playing Skyrim or Witcher where the amount of things to do is enormous, it literally branches at a few points and culminates into the arcs' endings. If a streamer or Youtuber would like to record, they ask for the video to exclude cutscenes where most streamers usually stay quiet (therefore not creating "commentary").

Do have to admit that a lot of these games have a far bit of story and cut scenes to them that involve a good size animation team which is part of the reason that they have shows and comics based off of them...
