Ebay 6700K Scam? Probably.

Hello people!!

I just bought an i7 6700K from Ebay for 26 CAD xD

Probably a scam, but I thought why not? It's just 19 Euros, so f**k it, I'll give it a shot.

At first it seems like a normal new seller. About 32 reviews with 100% positive feedback, member since 2014. No recent feedback though (not so normal after all...).

Now to the strange parts:

1. Item's seller claims to be in Utah, US. But he requires payment in Canada Dollars? Shouldn't he ask for US Dollars?

2. In my PayPal transaction email it says I sent a payment to "L630136@163.com". I mean 163.com took me to a Chinese site. And wtf is L630136? A bot generated account probably.

3. All of the seller's ~32 feedback is by HUGE eBay sellers with thousands of positive feedback themselves. LOL

4. The price of the product itself.

So what can I do in case it's a fraud? (Almost 100%)

eBay guarantees money back if the sale ends up being a fraud. Open a case on eBay, and you'll get your $ back.

Congrats, you're now part of the problem. They'll keep doing it if people are stupid enough to try buying it.

A part of me hopes you don't get your money back.

"Guarantees". It doesn't always happen, especially if it's Paypal you're trying to get the money from.

I've received partial refunds of not even 10% of the value of the item before, and that was all they could get for me.

@TheRandomness No he does not of course :P Sorry for posting it in the wrong section. Seemed right at first..

@MeepLikesToBuildPc's Let's hope so...

@dizmo And you, sir, are part of the rude people of the Internet. I mean why not take my money back? Because I wanted a deal/steal? I do understand your way of thinking, and I mostly agree. I mainly "bought" it out of curiosity. But if it is a fraud, then I'm most than willing to help bring him down.

Anyway, seller's name is: gis-qs9ompas.

The link is now inactive.

It's a common scam or timewaster on eBay. They earn money by cashing out fast, and eBay has to give you your money back. I've seen this with a Surface Pro 2 that I saw on eBay for just $25 and I never saw anything in the mail. Got my shit back from eBay.

idk

Rude, perhaps, right, absolutely.

If people didn't entertain the idea that they'd actually get something like that as cheap as that, scammers wouldn't be hijacking peoples accounts to try and "sell" them. You played right into it. That person, seeing sales, will try again.

You're only helping continue the cycle.

No, you did. You knew it was likely a scam, and did it anyway. The end result is exactly the same as someone who was simply ignorant. You were ignant, which is so much worse.

Or a dead 6700k

I honestly think OP should not have bought it, there is no chance someone would sell a 6700k for so cheap, literally.

He should feel bad for actually falling on a scam on purpose since this can end up costing eBay money that will end up on the hands of a bad person.

eBay should pay people to find fraud posts and ban those people. You could pay $1 for every $20 in potential losses.

Never buy from a seller who does not post the picture of the ACTUAL item.

If the seller uses stock images from retailers, chances are it's a scam.

Goodluck to you. Be really nice if they actually sent you a working chip :D
