Signal won't come to monitor.

Windows10Home

My friend had a bluescreen yesterday, but everything was fine. When he woke up today, his computer wouldn't send signals to his screen. (I have the same one) Everything worked fine. His fans were going, his moue and keyboard were lighting up, and his screen worked fine. Just that the screen didn't show anything. He tried changing between HDMI and DisplayPort, but it didn't help.

Is there something wrong with the GPU? If your friend has another monitor somewhere, tell him to plug that one in and see if it works.

"May your frame rates be high and your temperatures low"

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

Was there any sign of a problem before this happened? Unusually high temperatures? Try plugging the monitor in to something else like a old console or streaming device to see its the monitor (Doubtful).

unplug it, fish the bios battery out, and use it to short out the battery terminal contacts (that's the simplest way to get rid of leftover charge) for a minute before tossing the battery back in, and then see if you get any life out of it.

because if your system does nothing at all after it turns on (power going ut to everything) and the power supply isnt a chinese piece of junk, a bios reset is my next sensible step on the list :P

does his mobo have a beep thingy for POST codes? (does it go "beep" on a normal startup?)

I don't think so -_-, but it's weird that his computer and monitor turns on, but it just doesn't output anything

i'm rather thinking that it doesnt actually "turn on" but rather doesnt get past the stage of sending power to everything.

Only not sending full power to the mobo/gpu?

the most sensible answer would be no power going to the cpu, but that would be REALLY strange to just "happen" overnight. i dont even think that losing the cpu 12 volt rail can be caught by a blue screen.
