That's fine and dandy, but you will never be able to tell me why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Also, thermodynamics is easy peasy. Thermo = thermal, dynamics = change. Changing thermals. You are welcome.

Until you do it in 3 dimensions using PDEQs and have to calculate how long it'll take to melt an ice cube based on both convection and conduction. Oh, and the surface area shape change and the ratio change of SA to Volume as it melts. Trust me, that's the 30-point question on the final that exactly two people got right, and one of them cheated. I got a respectable 20 of the available points.

Yes I blow my own horn from time to time, but magetank knows I'm good with math and programming, and any good Computer Science program tends to require 3 courses of either physics or chemistry. Like I said, this is the basics.

Hey, I know no such thing. I know you are good at typing numbers, but I am bad at math, and often don't know what those numbers mean. I normally just nod my head at you until I see an opening. It's why my title says what it does, lol.

Image result for massive chunk of salt

I'll take this with a a chunk of salt about the size of the one in his hands ^

If it's true, that's great, hopefully some decent competition will push Intel to advance even more.

On the flip side, I wonder how high the upcoming desktop Kaby Lake CPUs will be able to reach on air and water.

Kaby is reaching 5 again on water. I don't think anyone's tried with an NH-D15.

It's one fucking chip. Let's wait till these CPUs actually get into consumers hands, and see how they overclock on Air. I doubt it, especially since 32nm was the only architecture that could overclock too 5Ghz reliably.

100% sure he's just repeating what's been posted on every Zen thread where the potential soldered IHS has ever been mentioned.

I'm pretty sure I knew that stuff already (minus the degree of metallurgy involved), and I'm not the only one.

Well yeah, the thread where you claimed an AMD CPU was a Xeon, even though there's more similarity between a RAM 1500 and a ferret, went into a decent conversation about it, and is what, like two or three weeks old?

Nothing else really to say. If this is true (which buildzoid claims is unlikely), it will likely be NH-D15 territory only and very rarely.

  Reveal hidden contents

"I'll just use this comment to say this since it's relevant to me.

I don't have a Zen but I know people who do.

I continue to stand by my comment about 5G not happening on air without too much voltage. This doesn't disprove the statement of ZenOC@Air=5G however I wouldn't get your hopes up because we don't know how many cores or volts actually managed that clock. (my sources never gave me absolute max clock just that it does about X.X for daily use)

For all those wondering about X.X. Well lets just say that I am pleased with

X.X."

well, they did make a 5GHz boost clock FX processor using what I assumed is stone transistors, so maybe they've upgraded to bronze transistors and the added culture and farming allows a high overclock, but serious face for a second, There are always going to be hand picked top .1% chips sent out to reviews and "leaked" to overclocking websites, it makes it seem less obvious the chip was cherry picked.

Yours faithfully

Piledriver was a very loose-time (low IPC) architecture on a very leaky/power-inefficient node(32nm SOI bulk planar). Intel's own Sandy Bridge processors can reach 5+ with a fair amount of frequency. As timings get tighter for higher IPC, higher clocks become more and more difficult (the actual circuits on the CPU fire much faster than the CPU's actual shown clock speed), and FinFET also hampered Intel's upper clock speed ceilings. To expect it to not have a similar effect on AMD is a bit ridiculous imho.
