Used this in several computers, use it in my own. Super great wireless card. Works with every OS ever too.

I don't have access to ethernet so that's not an option for me but I've been looking at this wireless card but I don't really know what any of this means. I have a pc that I'm going to use for gaming so I assume it's good enough for that, but I don't know if it's still good for its price. $40 is around what I'd be willing to spend if at all possible.

So the biggest benefit is the power delivery.  USB devices will only allow up to 2.5 watts of power to be delivered to them, where as your PCI-E devices will get up to 15watts...  This means better range, processing, and not to include they will keep MUCH cooler.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

That makes sense, but is there any added benefit of going for the $50+ wireless cards for the average user? Or am I good with the one I linked?

also I would include the fact that usb devices like to randomly not want to be recognized and have to be unplugged and re-pluged in(i think its because they over heat)

Well USB is kinda the worst standard ever.  The bus itself isn't very good with multiple devices.

I don't see the link, but it would depend on the speed of your router like if its an n router there isnt really a benifit for getting a ac wireless card except for extended range.

They will offer a better chipset...  What exactly are you wanting to do and what is your ideal price?

Same card as I have, works good for mild video streaming, but I'm not super sure if you should game with it. It's not going to be the best, but it will be okay.

If your router is 200ft. or less go ethernet otherwise if your going wirless your going to need boosters to get enough range.....can you explain why ethrnet is not an option? I got a 10ft. cable running through my house right now it worked a lot better than a USB one I had gotten and my computer sits in a wifi dead zone anyway so I would need to buy boosters (or maybe there extenders....whatever it is) to get the signal stronger there. A 200ft. ethernet cable is a much cheaper soultion https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=200ft+ethernet+cable&sprefix=200ft.+%2Caps%2C140&crid=26YU1LVD2T94W

Just keep it close to the walls and anyone living in your house should adjust to it and stop notcing it after awhile, and if it is a big problem just get some clips and ru it along the celling in troublesome area. Still would be cheaper than going out and getting a wireless card.

The trouble is that I'm going to be going to college where I wouldn't always have the ability to use ethernet, so I'd rather get a wireless card right now instead of routing my cables through my attic (which is the alternative, at least for me).

So I would suggest still getting the ethernet cable since there so cheap, but you got to remember, most college dorm rooms are going to have ethernet, cable, and other ports built into them for easy use. Now I would still get the wifi card just in case, but if you have the option always use ethernet, its just so much faster than wifi. As for wifi pci cards, anything that starts to go into the $40+ range will defiantly be a good card and be able to meet your gaming needs. Just don't spend all of your money on your PC.....you got to eat somehow. Unless your me, the military is going to be paying for my college and I'll be getting a check once a month, plus I took a 10k bonus towards college, in total I'm getting 50k between the G.I. bill and the 10k signing bonus, and for going to my traning 1 weekend a month I'm getting around 300-400ish. The drawback, I'm in the reserves for the next 6 years and with Donald Trump as president its almost 100% certain I will deploy, but as an IT Specialist (which is my MOS 025 Bravo) I'll most likly get put on a FOB (forward operating base) and fix the computers, routers, and other broken electronical equipment (which could be as basic as a jammed printer) and not acutally out killing terrorist. Although those FOBs do get bombed quite a bit from what I have heard.
