Making money Building PC's

Afro_Lamb

im under 16 and always have to ask my parents for money, is there a way i can make a bit of money building PC's in UK for others because that is the one thing i am confident at.

I have helped build 1 system with

i7-6700K @ 4.6GHz

GTX 970

16GB DDR4-2666

Samsung 950 Pro 256GB

Noctua NH-D14 (was quite a pain in the ass to work with :D)

Corsair Air 540

And another system with

i7-6700 (non-k)

GTX 1060

16GB DDR4-2133

1TB WD blue // Adata SP550 256GB

NZXT S340

You can try.. But really most people who want a computer that don't know anything about computers will go to a store and buy a system. If they do know about parts and such then they'll probably build it themselves.

Stick an ad up on your local classifieds, anything can happen.

You can do it.I'm 13 and I build PC's for relatives and that takes some time.If your 16 your probaly still in school and that's why I might caution against this because if you suddenly get poular you will have a lot to do in a short amount f time, and consider factors such as talking to your clients.Sure it'll take 30 mins to build a PC but it mightt take a couple days to make a PC thats right for your client.

Simply advertise your services.

I'm not sure about the law exactly over in the UK, basically as long as you don't make more then lets say 1000gbp [you'll have to look this up for your particular area, your local council will be able to tell you] a month then you don't have to declare it as income.

See if you could get a weekend job at a computer shop near you. They'll take you on hopefully, although you'll have to be 14 at a minimum in the UK.

This is how I started off in the early 2000's when I was back in grade school. Evolved into me getting a job at a PC repair shop to evolve beyond simply building PC's but repairing them as well as other electronic components/devices. Funneled me into a Systems Engineering job later on in life.

Go for it but realize that when you build it for them they will come to you when it breaks or is not working correctly. If you are ok with that then you should be fine.

Snow shoveling for people can prove beneficial.

Sell things.

Bake.

Advertise (although you have to put some money when advertising)

What are you good at that can be beneficial to others?

Move to the 'non-stupid' place called Scotland then :P

At least we're not daft with the majority voting against leaving the EU...

I cri how London, NI and Scotland were the only 3 regions with a big enough population to actually majorly affect the polls to vote against Brexit ;-;

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

To be honest you'd probably make more money off of buying used PCs, taking them apart and selling the parts.

I had an account called Joegeddon active since April 20th 2015

Depends on where you live. If you live in a small town, less likely. If you live in a larger town, perhaps a little more likely.

There are more things that you'll have to consider though.

How are you going to warranty your build?

What happens when something goes wrong, and you fry a component?

How are you going to market yourself?

You can't really say it's a business, as it's not. It's a hobby.

Highly unlikely, most computer shops want someone that can build a system in 15 or 20 minutes, and build a lot a day.

We had it today and it was amazing. Except the fire drill where I had to piggy back people in my tshirt because they had no shoes on when it rang xD

The thing with building a PC as a business is you also have to be willing to be tech support. People who come to you won't know what they're doing and if anything goes wrong, they will come to you for all of their computer woes regarding that computer. If you're not willing to do that, you're not going to win many customers over.
