NVIDIA to test... driverless car?

Instead of bringing us the hype with 1080 Ti (please tell me it's real), NVIDIA decided to make driverless cars? Well obviously NVIDIA only designs it, they don't manufacture anything.

(ugh that motion blur and screen tearing, better release a 1080 Ti already or is that they don't have money for Gsync?)

Nvidia is now added to the California Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) list of companies permitted to test self-driving cars on public roads.

The company joins a growing list of autonomous vehicle testers in California:

While Nvidia is best known for its graphics cards, the company has spent the last few years steadily pushing into artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on autonomous driving. It announced a computer vision system tailor-made for self-driving at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2015, and then followed that up with a more advanced version — called the Drive PX2 — at this past year’s CES.

(basically their GPU can do 4K gaming at maxed out settings that look like real life but can't take a real life picture at decent resolution)

Since then, Nvidia announced that it was partnering with Chinese web giant Baidu to build a platform for semi-autonomous cars.

Nvidia also built test cars, and was training them in parking lots and private roads prior to receiving this new approval from the California DMV. And this summer, a self-driving race car competition called Roborace announced that it was using the Drive PX2 in its vehicles.

I'm not going to lie. I like that paint job, but why a cheap knock-off of a Charger?

They should invest in a G-Sync module for the car.

OBVIOUS JOKE

Hopefully AMD doesn't make a driverless car or else we'll have to carry jugs of water for a road trip.

I think I saw it on my news feed yesterday but didn't think anything of it.

Considering NVIDIA is heavily vesting in AI, this seems like a logical step :3

Would a car dashboard need G-Sync? I guess so when NVIDIA would put a GTX 1080 on the computer box. The dashboard would probably stretch out to have 21:9 aspect ratio. Where would they put the hazard light and AC then?
