2 years without booting gaming pc, will it work?

nkucz

Hey guys,

So basically after a few years of not gaming much at all except on my friends Xbox One, I have decided to get back into PC gaming because I miss every aspect of it! I currently have a i5 3570k sitting in a ASRock Z77 Pro 3 motherboard, with a Rosewill Capstone 550w Modular power supply all connected. It has had no RAM or CPU cooler installed on it in 2 years and it hasn't been turned on in 2 years because of this. It has been sitting in a Fractal Define R4 in it's box in my basement during this time period. I recently purchased some DDR3 and the stock intel CPU cooler to see if it will boot, and if it does I will be ordering a RX 480 :)! So bottom line is, do you guys think it will boot? Updates to come this Thursday night!

Thanks.

I'd clean the fans thoroughly first, maybe some WD40 on the bearings too if you can but it should work. If it doesn't boots up is almost certainly the PSU though so you could still try to replace/test with other one first.

You may need to clear dust out of the RAM slots to make sure it has good contact, but other than that, there's no reason it shouldn't work unless something has happened to damage it.

Yeah, if it was working when you put it away and it hasn't been bumped to badly or had too much static charge it should (hopefully) be fine.

im not sure if HDDs last in storage

That's an F in the profile pic

Why shouldn't it boot? Just clean it a bit before turning it on.
