How Can I Roast Nvidia Fanboys?

Fanboyism is peasantry. Don't fight peasantry with peasantry. I agree 100% with @gcubed.

 

As many others have noted, a GTX 1080 for $200 is...well...complete BS. Maybe a 1060. And the guy with the 960...well...your 380 is better in most cases, and that's that.

 

For the purpose of helping you out with your issue, I have only listed pro-AMD arguments (there are obviously arguments to be made from both sides). It's perfectly fine to like either company, or even both. I think something a lot of people don't take into account is that WE ARE CONSUMERS. WE DON'T BENEFIT FROM ONE COMPANY GAINING DOMINANCE OVER THE OTHER. In fact, we should be encouraging AMD to gain some market share and become a serious threat to Nvidia again. It's a basic principle of business - products are better for the consumer when there is more competition. 

 

Nvidia has only really been leading the market for the past few years. It's been pretty even for most of the time. Older AMD cards also tend to perform better in the long run than their Nvidia counterparts. Take my 290X, for example. Basically neck-in-neck with a 780 Ti (at the cost of heat/power draw :P), although it was outpaced way back in 2013/2014. Remember that the 780 Ti was $100+ more expensive at launch. Also, basically all of AMD's cards from the past while have better performance with new APIs. They also have longer driver support, which can really help to extend the life of cards. In my opinion (although this is definitely one of those unpopular ones), AMD has much, much, better game bundles than Nvidia does. Total War: Warhammer, Star Wars: Battlefront, Battlefield 1, Hitman, DOOM, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Civilization VI. The traditional "Nvidia has better games" argument is invalid, IMO. 

 

Lately, AMD's really been focusing on performance/cost, and increasing their market share by targeting the masses rather than aiming for the top-performance spot. People seriously don't give AMD enough credit. "AMD doesn't have a chance against Nvidia"? Yes, they do, and if you doubt that...well...I don't know what to say. I'm rather disappointed to see how misinformed even some people on this forum are. Remember that AMD still hasn't released their top line of products yet, and they haven't updated their CPUs in years. We need to think about what they could announce on the 13th before we make any assumptions. 

 

People just haven't seen AMD truly dominate in a long time - that's the reason they think Nvidia is "the one and only top-tier maker". But when you step back and think about it, they've been making more progress than most people give credit for.

Oh come on. Just ignore them as they obviously don't understand that some people view things differently than others. I like Nvidia, but use AMD cards daily. My server has one. Don't worry, liking AMD is fine, as is liking Intel or Nvidia.

I'm 90% sure it probably didn't actually happen, and if it did, it probably didn't happen the way you said it did. But I'll bite: what you do is nothing, because even though they're supposedly being dicks, they're correct in their implication that a lot (not all) of AMD hardware is inferior to their Intel and Nvidia counterparts.

200$ for 1080 is not unrealistic, just the method of obtaining one may not be all that legal.

What matters is that everyone is a happy customer, regardless of vendor. Obviously, for dumb reasons, that doesn't seem to be the case for OP. 

 

In my case, the 960 was what best fit my needs (CUDA) at the time and price point (I got mine for ~$160 over a year ago). I don't play anything very demanding, so it's a fine enough card.

Friendly word of advice from an Nvidia fanboi (the proper spelling of the insult :P):

 

Any Red/Green argument will quickly devolve into who can be the biggest a-hole contest. It is usually best to just smile and walk away secure in the knowledge that AMD is the best choice for you.

Using a fx6300 is pretty funny. Just ask them something made up about the advancements in DX12 with Pascal then school them with how it's just Maxwell and when they don't believe you show them proof and they will stop.

Laugh at their low-resolution price-for-performance and bring up Pascal's SLI scaling at low resolutions (it is around a 24% boost for 2x the cost). Also there is no way to buy a 1080 for $200, unless it is a dead card frankly you would be lucky to find a 1080 for less than $600. Also how old are you all to be fighting about this (maybe bring up the fact that they are [probably] rich snobs if you could get away with it)? Throw them in a case with a R9 390X and an overclocked FX-9590. I could go on for days...
