Is it considered weird to wear headphones in public?

I want to know this because generally I don't see many people at all that wear them, all people wear are ear buds which I find extremely uncomfortable.

 

by in public I mean in a non social location such as walking down the road or on a train

 

I don't want to come off as a douchebag

"hey look at me, I care about sound quality, I'm so unique and cool!" etc

like what the people who wear beats think of themselves

It is weird, I've seen it my self. That is why i've never bought the idea of portable headphone, for me I just just hang it on PC.

Depends.. if you're with friends it's kinda weird to ignore them and listen to music. Who cares if you're out on the street not talking with random people around you. Everyone is playing with their phones now anyways, at least you're looking up when wearing headphones.

Headphones have been marketed as a fashion accessory because of beats, so nobody will really bat at eye at you for headphones. 

 

Using them as a neck warmer will make you look like an idiot though.

Small earbuds yes - bigass headphones where in most cases you hear what he is listening to - NO! When i was using public transport (now i live 2km from work soo i walk) the bus was going thru university and then thru campus i had people riding in headphones and im glad in Poland you are not allowed to get a gun because i would go on rampage - i had metal songs on front of the bus, some sh*tpop next to me and some weird-ass music in back also.

With earbuds even if you pump up the volume youll keep what you listen to yourself. Many people wear headphones because they think they look "cool", "yolo", "swag" and all that bullsh*t when they dont...

Ill wear both in public. just depends on what i feel like carrying around for the entire day. for instance, I wore my shure E215s all day and I still think they are incredibly comfortable. when im feeling the need to pump it, I break out my v-modas with my universities logo on the shield. sound level I use is minimum. I prefer to be consciously aware of my surroundings.
