NVIDIA's Dominance In the GPU Market

Go to solution Solved by ivan134,

Wow, I was right. He is a troll from WCCF

wccf troll.png

Alright the entire Pascal lineup is out and AMD has been beaten in every segment. The RX 480 is humiliated by the 1060 6GB and 3GB variants in performance. The RX 470 is just priced terribly... The pricing in which it can be found puts it up against the 1060 3GB which it is no match for. The RX 460 is beaten out by the 1050 quite easily. Nvidia also has their Titan XP, 1080, and 1070 which AMD has no answer for until January! Nvidia is in total control of the GPU market right now with effectively no competition.

Amd has alot of control of the midrange cards with the 470 and 480 yes they fall behind but that gain some may say isn't worth the premium

Dude the 480 4GB beats the 3GB 1060, and the 8GB 480 wins in almost as many titles as the 1060 beats it because of the massive driver improvements and OCing is much better on the 480. 470D is coming out soon to beat the 1050ti but yes I will admit the 460 is dumb now. And they do need to step ut their game in the high end market

What does this post add to the discussion. 3 of your tags are about how Amd is terrible. Sure the 7990 in your picture was objectively bad, but seriously you could have asked what people thought about the companies offerings or even what amd/nvidia's business strategies might be going forward. Instead we got another fan boy (not criticizing nvidia, every company has them) posting about how the other side is just bad, without offering anything constructive.

It's no match for the 1050. That's why AMD made the price cut. The 1050 is $10 with a 15% performance increase. It's performance/dollar is even better than the RX 460. Also you are getting a cooler card that draws less power

The point of Polaris wasnt to make a card for those who want the best, just those who can settle for great for a reasonable price. I disagree with most of this. The cards were priced well, the 460 beats the 1050 (Non ti), the 470 sits between the 1050ti and 480/1060. The 4 Gb 480 beats the 3Gb 1060 and the 8Gb competes well against the 6Gb 1060. Nvidia's cards are for enthusiasts, AMD has made them for the masses who cant afford to pay so much for the best (This is coming from someone that is about to buy a 1070/1080 in a build soon). But AMD should still have made somthing for the high end, they are losing too much money not to.

I've been saying it from the beginning. The RX 480 should have been the 470. It makes AMD seem more formidable but with only the 490 (unless they start using X and XX until they go hardcore with XXX) to compete at the top-end, they've very little chance to make their stand.

when a double die shrink occur (which to my knowledge was the first time ever) and one side can't even push a GPU any faster than what they had done for the past 3 years (R9 290/290X launched a while ago and are faster than the RX 480 across the board) then you know something is SERIOUSLY wrong.

The 470 sits between the 1050 ti and 480, meaning it beats the 1050 ti but isnt at good as the 480 or 1060. 4Gb 480 has the extra VRAM, many game need more than 3Gb. And the 480 8Gb competes well against the 1060 6Gb.

The 470 sits bewteen the 1050 ti and 480, meaning it beats the 1050 ti but isnt at good as the 480 or 1060. 4Gb 480 has the extra VRAM, many game need more than 3Gb. And the 480 8Gb competes well against the 1060 6Gb.

I know all this lol
