Lol ya look at my post I edited it :)

Turns out it does have a 965m. However, it seems it can't be upgraded to a 980m.

Apparently the SP4 has Skylake....when did that happen?

To get pricing more in-line with other AIOs (that don't have the hinge/drawing aspects to them) -- specifically the 5K iMac since that's the only AIO with a 5k screen, you're looking at: $1800 for the base model, $2500 for the mid-tier model, and $3400 for the top tier model. So, you're basically paying an extra $1000 for the drawing capability of it (which while a lot, is possibly cheaper than the cost of a comparable drawing interface? -- I'm not exactly sure how much comparable drawing tools cost). Although, in all fairness, Apple's upgrades are stupidly expensive, so the pricing of the iMac should really be more like $1800, $2100, $2400~.

The Wacom Cintiq is the most directly comparable drawing product, it is ~$2300 and is only a display (and drawing interface obviously) and not a full computer.  So all in all not a bad up-charge for a 28" touch/pen interface.  The Wacom is only QHD too, but has better pen sensitivity, so there is that too, but it is the most comparable option I can find.

I am really not surprised by the quality put into this, Microsoft used to be known for their quality, premium hardware before the *cough* last CEO *cough* killed that department. Surface is MS's comeback to the hardware market... :)  (I want game gear back... I miss Sidewinder stuff)

In what world does Microsoft think this piece of shit AIO is worth 3000 dollars? I wouldn't even pay 1/3 of that for it.

The screen seems nice, but for crying out loud it's a core i5, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB "hybrid storage" (as in, it's probably a hard drive with a small SSD cache) and a GTX 965M.

Wanna bet that you can't upgrade it either? So have fun throwing out that 3,000 dollar piece of crap in one go when you want to upgrade.

"Ohh but you can get it with a 980M and a 2TB hard drive if you want!". Yeah, for 4,200 dollars. I could buy a much better desktop, several monitors, some great peripherals and a few hookers and still have money over.

It looks nice in the commercial, but the product is shit and the price is terrible. It doesn't even have an up-to-date GPU.

Oh and at that resolution you will have to use the Windows scaling options which makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

Not even the wheel seems that useful. On top of it needing the terrible Surface Studio for complete functionality, it just seems unnecessary. Why use that instead of keyboard shortcuts or just touching the controls you want? The whole thing is a touch screen right? So why use a dial when you could just use the actual buttons in the program. It seems like a "I want it because it's cool"-product, and not a "I want it because it will be useful and make me more productive"-product.

The pricing really isn't that bad (at least not with the base model). And the pricing isn't bad at all if you compare it to other comparable devices.

You have to consider the cost of expensive drawing slates/screens/etc... (which is far as I know are quite expensive), if that's not the case, then you're right, and the pricing isn't good. And yes, they really should have included an SSD in the base model.

Windows scaling issues is another issue entirely, but if you're doing drawing (which is what this looks like it was designed for), you're going to be very close to the screen and a low resolution would look horrible. So I understand why they went with 5k~.

Ok seriously do you ever say anything constructive?

With exception to the price tag (to which I completely agree you on) this being MS's first attempt at an AIO it pretty nice. The base hardware is still pretty decent its not thats obsolete and besides an I5 is plenty strong enough to drive this machine.

Even that I disagree with. The typing experience is relatively poor and the touch experience with Windows is also relatively poor. I would never recommend a Surface to anyone who doesn't specifically want to use the stylus.
