I was a a fan of the Microsoft Sidewinder series. 

XBox's predecessor. :)

Actually the Original Sidewinder was pretty decent. I owned on of those but not the rest.

The controllers could be daisy chained to add players.

These were designed for PCs back in the mid 1990's.

It kinda does. If you can still find it there was an adapter to change the serial connector to usb.

I still have a original Sidewinder with the serial connector, actually tried it on Win7 with the serial to USB adapter and it installed without any extra drivers.

Actually, while this wasn't MS's own hardware, this abomination pretty much was the Xbox controller's predecessor:

The original Duke was pretty much this thing with a second stick (which was beyond awful and slippery) and a Sidewinder D-pad. ._.

I just used some logitech controller that was PS2 and didn't support using the joysticks outside of just pressing them as a button

IDK, I loved that little flying saucer back in the day.  It felt really comfortable in my hands and the analog stick felt 'good' and more analog-like, even though the bumps made you a little blister prone.

It was gigantic, though. I remember I had to change my grip to even reach the start button with my thumb, lol.

I honestly wish MS would re introduce the sidewinder or new named gear, they can call it their Surface game gear or something. I liked the joysticks, controllers, racing wheel and keyboards. Good quality stuff back then.
