Need to make a rack for a Raspberry Pi

So I know what your thinking. WTF would someone want to make a server rack for a raspberry pi?!?! I will tell you

All of my networking gear is rack-mount for my home network. (My PfSesne Box and my 24-port switch currently). I am going to be using a raspberry pi as a controller for my Ubiquity AP's for wireless hand off and stuff. I would like to rack mount it so it will kind of fit in with everything else, but don't know how. Thoughts?

You can buy a shelf and just place it on that. That will be like 100$ though. If you are okay with going slightly ghetto, you can just a couple of 1x1 strips of wood, cut a groove in each one using a table saw, then glue a peice of plywood in the groove. That would be the easiest way to make a dirt cheap shelf if cost is an issue.

Why not just use this? https://www.google.com/search?q=unifi+cloud+key&oq=unify+clo&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.2271j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=unifi+cloud+key&tbm=shop&spd=16730699286292699028

You can also just add a a dell r710 or simmilar and make a vm server and the unify controller to the pile of vms.

Just go to your local hardware store (I like Home Depot) and grab some double-sided tape. It's not expensive at all. Worst case scenario, order it on Amazon. In all honesty though, check out Linus' PIMP my Wifi EP. 2. He explains all kinds of things, and he demonstrates the Unifi CloudKey, a way better solution to your problem.

I will most likely not respond to you in a thread unless you quote me.

1. I can't justify spending $70 on a thing that can do what my free raspberry pi can do

2. I would like to get a car in the next year and a half better than a Nissan Shitbox so i can't justify spending $200 on one

I think that while a Raspberry Pi may be spending money wisely, the Unifi CloudKey is spending time wisely. If you've got loads of free time, you may be OK with programming and then bug-fixing and things like that. Otherwise, the CloudKey means you don't have to spend ridiculous amounts of time on it. That's up to you, but if you're hell-bent on a Raspberry Pi, just velcro/double-sided tape it to something else in your rack.

I have some time. If it really becomes a pain I will throw Debian on one of my Old IBM servers to do it and hope I don't kill the environment

Alright, I guess just tape or velcro the Pi to something else. That's probably the easiest way.

There are numerous retail locations littered around your community that would carry such an item.  You may purchase such an item from these venues in exchange for currency.

If you want to be that ocd, you can get some old crappy rackmount switch and just use it as an enclosure.

My native language is C++

Buy some dog ears off ebay or amazon, and then just mount 1 to the side of the Pi (pick your poison, tape/screws/velcro/hot-glue) and then mount it to the rack.

https://goo.gl/04IOhf

Buy a couple 1/4" screws and screw it into the pi. It doesn't weight enough that there will be any weird bending like you see with some switches.

(If you already have a rack you probably have a few of those laying around)
