Nvidia GTX970 settlement claim now available

NumLock21
Quote

As a follow-up to the late-June 2016 decision by NVIDIA to enter a settlement with owners of GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards over the 2015 class-action lawsuit over falsely advertised memory amount, a website ominously named gtx970settlement.com sprung up by the law firms representing the class. This website connects legitimate owners of the GeForce GTX 970 graphics card to the class, and enables them to claim the USD $30 in damages NVIDIA agreed to pay each member of the class.

Nvidia GTX970 owners, can now file claim to get your $30 US dollars check. Only catch is, you must be a US resident.

you're actually wrong there.

it's that the USA is the only country where a class action lawsuit found place, if europe would do the same thing you'd also get your €30 in damages ;)

it's just the USA's "i'll sue you" culture that makes the most insane class action lawsuits find place there.

here's how the legal system works internationally: you can be facing death sentence in the USA, when you move to a different country, and didnt commit any crimes since you got there, you theoreticly have a clean sheet.

this is why the anti-nuclear sanctions against north korea dont work: they dont have to care. they feel perfectly fine walled in from the western world, so as long as they dont need us they dont have to give two shits about what the western world tries to impose on them.

Seriously guys, why would the class action lawsuit filed in America have anything to do with other countries? I get it, America sucks, let's all hate on them, stupid Americans but seriously guys use your heads.

Wow, so many retards posting in this thread.

Of course it was going to be US only due to how legal systems work, it wasn't an international case. Take it to the court in EU if you want your money.

you're about 40 minutes late, mate ;)

the thing is that europe still has enough sensible people for not everything being taken to court with results that basicly only fill the pockets of lawyers.

The point of class action lawsuits is imo not to pay back the consumer though in this case 30 dollars for .5GB of VRAM seems pretty fair. The point is to punish the company and make sure what profit they earned from their scheme disappears. Also let's say the lawyers get paid nothing so every one gets what an extra 2 or 3 dollars

the thing is that the lawyers usually run home with billions here, if it's really about punishing the company i'd imagine they'd be going home with much, much less ;)

Of course the lawyers are out to make money I was talking about the people that file the lawsuit. And I'm pretty sure the lawyers get a few million not billions and even if it is billions then if the lawyers don't get paid that will be like 15 extra dollars for each person
