Obama signs internet over to United Nations

Call me crazy but since each nation has one vote in the UN processes (for most things). I really don't want the censorship block to gain control of what is essentially the largest communication tool even envisioned. On the bright side with the UNs track record the worst that will happen is the rape and murder of the very people their trying to protect.... shoot well at least we can expect some serious incompetence maybe even enough to stop any grand plans!

Well considering that its also influenced by a bunch of other nations who aren't the US, it might change something. And by change i mean prevent the US from exerting control in the future by doing some weird shit to naming i guess.

The ICANN doesnt cater to anyone's interest other than that of the people it's selling domains to. It's only function is to control what domain names are assigned to what IP addresses, not the entire internet. If you are so concerned about China having a different opinion than us over a fucking domain name than fine, but you need to step back and see what is really happening here.

I mean besides a heavily edited video from Buzzfeed on "racist" things Donald Trump has said about "Mexicans", if you look at his policies and his history you'll see that he's garnered a lot of support due to things outside his wealth, which still doesn't make him a bad guy. It's not like our previous presidents haven't enjoyed great wealth.

I don't think you quite understand why this is important.

No one here thinks that the internet is a magic blue cable box and President black-guy is flying over to literally hand it over to the U.N. 

but this isn't just something that has no potential to cause harm to anyone.

You still haven't explained exactly why ICANN having complete control over domains and IPs is bad thing specifically. All you've said is that is has a potential for negative effects on the US but you haven't said what those negative effects might even be. Please give me the deets.

You don't think that DNS administration can have a big impact in the way of abuse or censorship? And i get it, it's not as if there's not always that possibility regardless.

It'd be one thing if it were placed with oversight to a third-party i actually trusted, but the U.N. is not trusted by me.

You can not "hand off Internet" since the Internet is not owned or controlled by a single entity, so I doubt that Obama wants to hand it over to the UN.

Looking over this thread it seems like it is actually about IANA/ICANN, which is totally not the same thing as "the Internet".

Obama wants to head the United Nations after his presidency is over. AKA he wills to be the ruler of the free world. His Obamacare enslavement should be terminated, as we have not actually seen the full brunt of it, yet. Very few individuals are actually aware of the full breadth of what the affordable care act truly holds. He is setting up to be the better his rein as leader of the united nations. He is, likely, to head the United Nations after his presidency has ended. I pray the Obama/Clinton political reign ends sooner than later. 

 

Unfortunately, not others may agree with me. For those who don’t, let me remind you that only nature thrives with 0 input. Additionally, for this great nation to thrive there must be a political balance. After nearly 8 years of Obama, the balance has shifty very far in favor of the current ‘progressive' agenda.

Let’s look at what the UN has been doing. Let’s ask the question relating to some country leaving the EU. I understand the fact that I am from Texas and not in favor of what the ‘majority’ yield you to subconsciously discredit my opinion.

I hope you realize that the US is currently classified as one of the enemies of the Internet (as defined by Reporters without borders).

The US is literally on the same list as Syria, Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, Cuba and other countries.

Many Scandanavian countries touted as socialist paradises hold very capitalistic principles.

180% or you know 45% on pretty much lower than average prices on cars but who really cares about real numbers when you can fear monger and scare people.
