Do you use Antivirus software or not?

I stumbled upon a video on youtube by Joker Production about his top 5 desktop apps he uses everyday and one of them was of course antivirus software. However, some people or quite a few in the comment section disagreed on having an antivirus software is needed. I personally think that having a antivirus software is a must. No matter how careful you surf online.

 

What do you guys think?

Eh...Avast kept getting in the way of other applications, so I showed him who's boss.

I only use Windows defender and Malwarebytes (free) since Avast and AVG were a pain in the arse and I've only ever downloaded malicious files twice in my life.

I'll run Malwarebytes every so often to make sure I haven't picked anything up, but I don't run it all the time

Well, if you're gifted at recognizing and removing malicious software manually, then you can live dangerously and just go with whatever your OS has by default, like Microsoft Security Essentials.

 

But not having an antivirus at all is a terrible idea. Even people who just Facebook and Youtube can occasionally get nasty bits of software.

Windows defender and that is it, not sure if it really counts though

 

Its 1st party, updated in the background, it can scan files, and its never in the way! 

 

Don't be a fool and its more than enough security.

Windows Defender offers a great deal of security if I'm dumb enough to open some malware, assuming it's able to recognize the threat, and it doesn't get in my way unless I'm being stupid or careless and run some malware.

Panda Free Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit are my security net.

i use commonsense++ 2.0 as a first barrier, and malwarebytes to keep away from the rest.

 

if i'd ever go back to having an antivrius, it'd most likely be norton.

i've seen norton at its worst, and i've seen how symatec really realised that "this isnt what we need to be" and their 2016 release of norton actually somehow made my mom's netbook faster than it was with avast, or even faster than without an antivirus at all.

sounds like a maxed usage HDD. Also nobody downloads porn.

If I really wanted to, running without antivirus would be very easy for me. Its harder than you think to get a virus.

Like alot of other members, beyond Windows Defender and Malwarebytes I don't have anything else.

 

I download all my "other files" through a VM(VM runs on it's own 500gb hd), have good internet habits. I've only had 1 virus in all my time. So I've been fine. 

 

Between adblock, being smart enough to actually look for the correct download link and using a VM as a burner I've had good luck.

Have never seen this level of concern and possibly paranoia for virus protection........not trying to be rude, but if you have "good internet habits" you dont need a fricken VM to download your files

It's been recently while trying to find a new tor site. KAT went down and I was a "member of their forums" and I only do it to weed out possible chances with new sites.  

 

Once I find a good site, ill drop it again.

Yes, I run Avast and MalewareByte weekly scans. I can kind of see where people come from where using common sense you will not catch virus's. However running anti virus and malware just gives you piece of mind just in case, with the performance of modern computer hardware slowdowns and inconvieniances this once would have caused are no longer much of an issue at all.

You cellphone operates on towers when you arent at home.........those are monitored by everything and everyone with a passing interest. 

 

You may be secure now, but just know, that if a certain presidential candidate comes a knock'n, you wont be secure anymore.

I was fine with KAT but now they're basically dead so off elsewhere to look. 

 

I'm not going to lie,  I do it with games that I have an interest in before actually buying. Beyond that, I've got Netflix, Prime, access to HBO/SHO stuff legally with their HBO to go.

I have ESET Antivirus, i cant think of a reason to not use antivirussoftware so, it is always nice to have a bit of protection againt some nasty virusses.
