DT 770 uncomfortable for the upper jaw

Shad_Stang

Don't get me wrong these headphones sound amazing and I would love to keep them, but during long periods it seems that the pads push up too much pressure against my upper jaw, even after bending the clamps that attach it to the headband. I had oval/egg shaped headphones and it seems that the circle shaped ones don't do well.

Is it the pads? Is it the headphones? It is worth trying the M50x? (does it match it's sound signature?) What do you suggest?

Thanks!

I'm leaving it for others to try to resolve your issue, I'm simply gonna address your thought of replacing the DT770 with the ATH-M50X.........DON'T!!! The M50X is simply overpriced for what it brings to the table. I'd auditioned the M50X a while back, and I can only say it sounded rather 'meh'. I can recall that mids was horribly muddied by the bloated bass......and wondering why peeps buy it in the first place.

Oh yeah, if you like the signature sound of the Beyerdynamic DT line, perhaps you ought to look at the 'Premium' line instead of the 'Pro'. I have a DT990/600 Premium and it has much less clamping force compared to the DT770 Pro......I say this with the utmost confidence because I'm an owner and frequesnt user of both! Just a general suggestion, wait for others to reply....

Put your back into it and stretch the headband. I had the same problem with the DT880 Pro.

I will say that while a lot of people find the Beyerdynamic DT headphones comfortable, they never completely worked for me. I like my HE-560 much, much better. MUCH. The T1.2 was pretty comfortable; but it's $1000.

:S What does stretching the headband do vs stretching the clamp?

It'll probably be worth getting a titan x for that price range :P

I don't know what a "clamp" is. Just stretch the metal part of the head-band; don't use the yokes for leverage or you might break the plastic parts.

I agree. They are by no means uncomfortable, but my HD600's comfort level is leaps and bounds over my DT990 Premium. The 598 may be a hair over the 600.

just stretch them out, put them on something that is wider than your head for a day or so.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

Yep, some peeps simply put a stack of books that were wider than a person's head, stretch their cans to fit and just leave it a lone for a day or two....or three, or four.....up to you. Just don't get overly ambitious and stretch the band too much, might stress the plastic parts (that holds the yokes to the headband) a wee too much.

yep, it is pretty simple and easy. I like to do about one day at the time, so I can see how the fit is, so they don't become too loose.

Is it the Clamp? (because you can stretch them.) If yes, try stretching. Or take a Look into the DT 770 EDITION (those have a MUCH !!! weaker clamp, and are Not even headbang proof :P ). Or 990 Edition/880 Edition..

Or is it the circular form of the Pads? Since those 2 things are quite different.
