No, that would make too much sense. There is no option to change usernames, either. I really don't understand services that don't have both of these options. To me, being able to delete your account and scrub your data and change your username is just as important as being able to change your email address or password.

If you want to delete your profile, you should contact an admin or a moderator. They can help you with this!

Apparently they don’t do username changes, either. Asked on two occasions months apart, and was given a flat “No” with no explanation whatsoever. Really cryptic, guys.

they do them, if there's reason to. (like for example if your username is suddenly a reference to something that turned out to be abslutely horrible. things can get a negative connotation over time.)

Yea, that's always the reason services/sites give, LTT is certainly not the only offender. It's still odd though, I can change my Twitter or Instagram account name 100 times a day if I want; nothing breaks, no one gets upset. The world continues to spin. I've just always found it strange when websites restrict that kind of thing, specifically the deleting of an account. That's borderline shady when you can't get your info OFF of a site you no longer want to use.

If you PM an admin (ideally @Windspeed36), accounts can be deleted if desired. However, I would encourage you to simply stop using the account instead, or ask to be banned, so that you can come back if you change your mind.

well, for example, there was once upon a time a twitch user called "nobama"

which is all okay, it's a funky political reference, but imagine if (this didnt actually happen) a group would form to take it on themselves to murder obama, calling themselves the "nobama union"

that username just got a very, very different meaning.

If you are banned normally, you can't come back, but if you have requested that your account be suspended to prevent you from accessing the site, we would probably revoke it if you changed your mind.

The reason why username changes aren't a thing comes directly from Linus and Luke. They both have said that they like getting to know users by their handles. Like knowing them IRL. You don't go about changing your name every so often IRL, do you?

But I could change my name IRL if I wanted to, get it? Don't get me wrong, I don't have any desire to change my username, and even if the option was available I wouldn't...but that doesn't mean it isn't a great quality of life feature.
