It's excellent option. EVGA B3 usually is same price and cheaper though.

I'd assume a GTX 1070? A CX550M should be fine.

And if you're building a system that needs 700w that means you're probably putting some hefty hardware in it and thus, should use a much better unit, IMO. Just makes me scratch my head. lol.

The rating is somewhat related to the quality of the unit though. It's easy to make an 80+ unit because you only need lower-grade components. To make a gold unit though, you have to use better components. Granted, the design of the unit is also important, but the fact that it's only 80+ tells me they made this to be a cost-effective eye-candy PSU for the masses. The emphasis was not put on performance and efficiency and thus, I won't touch it. But that's just me.  

 

I admit, the 5-yr warranty is surprising for a unit like this. They must be somewhat over-built, which does raise my confidence in these by a little. For special themed builds with tight budgets, these could be a decent choice - IF they perform well. Curious to see some full reviews before I say more...

Pfft, that's nothing. Back in the winter we had power bills upwards of $600 per month. Our last bill was $270 and we consider that to be good, lol. 

 

Farm house from 1850's with baseboard heaters = atrocious power consumption. In the summer months we have to have no less than 4 "window shaker" AC units running almost non-stop to keep things cool.

hmm well my house is basically for rent so power consumption is still high, but guess it's a private house so the bill isn't that high compared to yours

When we lived in a basement apartment of a small bungalow before, it was usually in the $80 to $120 range. So your bill seems to be pretty good, especially if that's for the whole house.

Not very good. The aforementioned CXM or CX would be better. If you want a quiet PSU then perhaps an EVGA B2 or GQ would do the trick.

How are the grey label CX PSUs? I know the grey label CXM PSUs are good, but what about their non-modular counterparts?

The non-modular ones are actually superior due to a better fan than in the CXM.

Potentially but a T2 PSU for $40 USD seems a little too good to be true, we'll have to wait for professional reviews but it would be a steal at the $40 price point for the CX450. That said it's probably gonna stick to T3. It's a good unit though.
