cool. the math is consistent, and Pascal seems to scale really well on a per-core basis of itself. Per-core performance (pascal vs. pascal) suggested double the performance of a 960, and its pretty close. That also means its probably at the same performance of a 480, and not quite at 980 levels on average.

Too bad it starts at $249 before tax. I know many would afford it, but I sure can't . But I managed to get a GeForce GTX 960 4GB FTW ACX 2.0+ for $209 before tax.

I already have it at the house now. I also had to budget out a monitor and some RAM, which left me in a pretty tight spot. Where I live, I also have to factor in tax as well, which would put that 1060 out of my reach anyway even if I had $250 to blow on one. Here's what I had to budget out almost $600 of (I forgot the exact amount by now, but it's close enough).

• EVGA GeForce GTX 960 FTW ACX 2.0+ $209.99
• Asus PB238Q 1080p IPS Monitor w/ adjustable stand: $219
• Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 2133 MHz C13: $78.99

If I can do the EVGA Step-Up Program and spend the extra $50 (assuming I have that), then I'll try and get it upgraded to the 1060 because it is an extra $50.

GPU comes first, then ram and finally monitor. You can get a 23" monitor for way less. It will be TN, but it's still good. Ram, drop down to 8GB. Now if that 16GB was a upgrade, shouldn't have kept off the upgrade and that will be $80 dollars saved.

$100 off monitor by getting TN panel and not upgrading ram leaves you with $180 dollars GTX 960 cost $210. Total save without getting the 960 is $390. Plenty enough for 1060.

Well here's the deal: I'll be upgrading the GPU anyways after the Fall semester in college, which will leave me with enough to make the jump to either the Titan P (assuming it's not outrageously priced), or go with SLI 1080s ACX 3.0 (if the Titan P comes out as expensive as shit). I know I am going to need 16GB of RAM for content creation. This computer I am building (see signature) is also built for 3D animation and modeling; a rather demanding workload to load down onto an average gaming computer (when you factor in times to meet).

 

The monitor that I was looking for has to have an adjustable stand because I'm tired of the ones with barely (if any) adjustments, and has to have an IPS panel because I also do some Photoshop and Autodesk SketchBook stuff as well. So when I do get the cash after my Fall semester, I'll do all the necessary upgrades to my computer and the setup . Another reason why I did go with the 960 was because I am also afraid that the 1060 will go out of stock so fast that I wouldn't have the time to get one ordered by the time I have some cash to spend (look at what happened to the 1070 and the 1080). I'll deal with what I have, and I'll take what I got as a lesson learned, okay?

It's not directly on the PCB, it's extended and the 6-pin is directly on the shroud. You can see multiple wires being soldered into the 2 main joints. The 4 pin micro, looks like it's for the fan.

Can someone please tell Nvidia and AMD to stop doing the blower compensator? They can easily be almost as small as a nano if they used a cooler like the one used on the nano...

It's too late.  People expect video cards to be a certain size and they have to live up to that

But...but...this would allow an incredibly small ITX build as the GPU would only be like 6 inches long...
