Need some suggestions in choosing GPU

I need some help choosing a GPU for my pc. I am planning to buy an i3 for the mean time due to budget. I was aiming for gtx 960 (4GB variant), amd 380x or maybe rx 480(if i can afford).

Am I gonna have some bottleneck issues with i3?

Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Do you think the 380x or 480 would cause any bottlenecks for the i3?

The RX480 won't have heat issues. I'm not sure how the i3 will do with that much GPU power though.

What makes you say amd may overheat? Did you have bad experience with amd gpu's?

Would it be better if I step up the CPU to i5?

Get the 480x and nvidia doesnt have any answer to that gpu as of now, go and get the rx 480, its launching tomorrow, even if u get a 4gb version, it will be atleast close to a 970 performance thats for sure.

That's very generalized. That's like me saying "dont get nvidia, their GPU's might not have the advertised vram" because the GTX 970 thing. Look at a product specific level, not brand

Actually a better card came out 2 years ago, the R9 280X. But he indeed should wait for the RX 480.

AMD GPU's do not overheat and especially not the 480. The 480 is much more powerful than the 960.

Get the RX 480 although an i3 will bottleneck it a bit, but it will still be better than to get a 380X/960. You can always upgrade your CPU when you get the money.

Wait for the RX480, it's probably gonna be gud.

I wouldn't waste my money on a GTX 960 right now, the RX 480 has great potential to be significantly more powerful than the 960 for just a little bit extra.

And i3 will only bottleneck in very CPU intensive games, maybe GTA V and Bf4 will suffer a bit.

All depends on which i3 you have.

Well, I forgot about the release of rx 480 was coming up. My bad.

I was going for an i3 since i'm on a budget. But I will try to bump it up a notch for an i5, maybe the cheapest 6th gen i5(temporary used until i can afford an i7 non-k[ i don't oc].

I will try waiting for 480, hope it's good. Seeing linus vid interviewing that man falling the 480 card. Lol.

Thanks man.

I have been using AMD since the beginning of me building PC's, no overheating issues.

Just don't buy the specific card that is known for overheating issues and don't buy FX-9xxx

It's as simple as that.

Hi, i noticed you got an i5 6600 in your sig maybe? How's the performance?

Its amazing. Still havent paired it with an actual GPU yet though, but I'm not worried about whether or not it will perform. I highly recommend it. The 6500 is an excellent choice too.

Well i learned my lesson from my fx8350 cpu.

Just chill man, Let him be. I'm taking any opinions as I can.

Good to know that AMD gpu's are quite good.

Aside from the 480, any previous models you can suggest please? I was eyeing the 380x from asus for a long time.

Wow. Good  to know.

As of writing, I am comparing your CPU and the price of it from my local store.

for the i3 it costs around $123.

for the i5 6400 it costs around $187.

for the i5 6500 it costs around $206.

your CPU costs around $226.

Comparing the 4, i might go to the 6400 due to budget issues.

Do you think this is enough to avoid any bottlenecks with a GPU(let's say, 960[4GB variant],380x,480)?

Any suggestions from previous gen cards? before 480? I cannot afford high end so maybe 380 or 380x? 950 or 960?

For the games, I usually play csgo and dota 2, sometimes final fantasy games like the classics 7 and 9 ( probably X/X2, and some other new releases from squarenix on steam).

Please stop, you're uninformed, overgeneralizing, embarrassing yourself and most of all trying to cause a flamewar here.

What you are saying is not relevant until prove of overheating on the cards people talk about mostly here (R9 380 and RX 480) has been provided.

AMD has good cards and there are very good coolers (like Sapphire Nitro cooler, or MSI Twin Frozr cooler) and it doesn't overheat. Yes, generally AMD stuff gets a bit hotter.. But that is only a bit.

If you want to overgeneralize, you might as well say Nvidia overheats. Have you read the rumor that came out today about the Asus GTX 1080 Strix OC? That supposedly got RMA'd a lot because it was clocked too high and the cooler could not handle it. Is this representative of the GTX 1080 as a whole? No. Is it representative of Nvidia as a whole? Of course not.

380 would be a fairly solid choice. GTX 960 would do good as well, but I would still wait for AMD and see what they get done with the RX 480. If it's as good as the papers say, it's definitely going to be worth it.
