No. Phones are more powerful then all hand held consoles. Just get a phone or if you want games get a DS

No, it's not worth it, definitely not brand new. It's already been more or less abandoned for a while.

 

Really really really cheap used with a pile of games might be worth it though, so I guess it ultimately depends on the context.

Price? That's gonna judge whether you should get one or not :D (I'm still surprised how BL2 can run mostly at 20-30fps on the vita since it has weak ass hardware in it)

It had the same GPU setup as the iPad 3 which was considered to have the best GPU in a mobile device during it's launch. The PSV also had quad Cortex A9's vs the iPad 3's dual A9s.

 

At it's launch, the PSV was the most powerful handheld device out there. It got axed due to pricing and lack of games.

Yes it did get axed as mobile phone gaming took it's place as the games were cheaper and the console was too expensive when they could play games on a device that they already had :/ (as one of the people who got it within 1 month of it being released, it's kinda sad :().

There was that, but also the Lightning connector that was introduced on the iPhone 5. It would be bad form to have two current gen devices use entirely different proprietary connectors.

Depends, there are still many great games on it that you CAN'T play on other current platforms or phones, given you haven't played them older gens, PS2, PS3 or PSP like Persona 3, Persona 4, Uncharted Golden Abyss ,God of War Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. It may still be totally worth it or absolutely not worth it.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

From just the ideology of it, the iPad 3 had four times the pixels to power compared to the iPad 2, but only twice as powerful of a GPU. That's probably why it struggled in graphics-intensive applications. Just too high of a resolution for a mobile device compared to the GPU technology at the time. Basically what happened with 4K a while back. But when you take all that GPU power in 2011 plus an even more powerful CPU and stick it on a device with a 960x540 screen compared to 2048x1536, things get a bit more competitive.

 

We have an iPad 3, but all it gets used for is my mom watching videos and Netflex (gets the job done).

Get a used one because they're probably relatively cheap used. Don't expect any real resell value in the future if you do buy one, because there's not a high demand (if any really) for them and they're pretty dated in general.

Honestly, you're better getting a PSP. The library is so much better, aside from the possibility of installing emulators and homebrews.

The Vita's game library is ridiculous, aside from its terribly slow wi-fi and crappy battery life. It's pretty good for playing PS1 games, though.
