a10 7850k or I5 2500k? Help!

I have i5 2500k and planning to switch to gaming performance cpu, im thinking about a10 7850k, so i was thinking who performs better at gaming?  And can someone suggest a great budget cpu that performs extremely good at gaming? (I only matter at FPS)

The 2500k is plenty good enough for gaming and will not bottleneck anything yet unless you are video rendering etc.. for purely gaming, the 2500k will be better as the performance per core is much better considering most games still only utilize 2 cores.

The graphics card has a lot more to do with your gaming performance than your CPU does. The 2500K is no slouch, despite its age, and you wouldn't really realize much of a gain from swapping it out, certainly not from taking a huge step backward in per-core performance by going to an APU. APUs are for low-profile HTPCs and laptops, not gaming rigs.

 

What graphics card do you have in there now? What type of games do you play, and at what resolution?

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

2500k is just fine for gaming, just overclock it and buy a new GPU.

upgrade your gpu instead . Cpu is fine. Polaris is out end of the  month.

A stock 2500 is better than a stock 8350, the only time the 8350 will win is when a game uses it's cores which is rare...

It can't, but that's because of the 5670. Your CPU is fine. Grab yourself an R9 380 or 380X or a GTX 960 and you're good.
