I think I just bricked my motherboard...

Hey guys,

 

Long story short, I was updating the BIOS on my old Intel DZ68DB motherboard... I plugged in my USB drive with the .BIO file on it, turned it on, pressed F7 to enter BIOS update mode, selected the USB drive with the file on it, and it started to update. After about 60 seconds the screen went black, and the system restarted. There's no splash screen, BIOS, nothing. It's just a blank screen with the system running. It's been like this for about ten minutes, and I haven't done anything...

 

Did I seriously just brick my motherboard? Since I haven't touched anything since before the restart, can I still save it?

Do you have an error messages? Clear CMOS. If that doesn't work you might have to get a volt meter out but I doubt you need to as you just flashed the BIOS.

Turn on psu power switch,hold finger over psu power switch,then turn on pc at front panel power button,then as soon as you hear the fans spin turn off the switch at the psu

Also try taking out the CMOS battery and waiting for the capacitors to dissipate.

There's compatibilty issues with Windows 10 with this motherboard, so I tried updating the BIOS to see if that would fix anything.

 

End result: Looks like the board was bricked. I was planning on replacing the board later this summer anyway though.
