'Battlefield 1' Is The Most Liked Trailer In YouTube History, 'Infinite Warfare' The Most Disliked

The_Denks

Am I the only person here suspicious of both of these numbers? I am sorry, but when a trailer of a video game, a niche product in perspective of the general audience, gets more likes/dislikes than some of the mainstream videos, which everybody and their dog has watched, something is not adding up there.

Read the community standards; it's like a guide on how to not be a moron.

I can't understand why.

Call Of Duty looks to have some fun things thrown in, such as space battles and new technologies.

Battlefield just looks like Battlefield.

They both look underwhelming. So, whatever.

The majority of the target market today want earlier warfare, just look at examples such as Heroes and Generals and I know its more modern day but Arma 2 and 3 because they were great selling games with high profit and turnover whereas futuristic shooters haven't seem to have done as well, generally speaking.

Well, there will always be haters for start. Other thing I like they're going in space for gameplay with ships, no gravity, mechs and whatnot. I like sci-fi gameplay so. But something like WaW2 would be great to.

BF1 looks interesting and bit odd with different approach with a twist to history.

The main reason for the dislike is the fact you can only can get COD remaster if you buy 110 dollars legacy edition .... I am sure the pirated version of these game gonna be popular ... People who buy the game 90% will be playing cod remaster.

personally i like that they are going more sci-fi. black ops 3 is the the first time i played a CoD since MW1 because of its futuristic setting. but now they are probably going historic too and that pisses me of royally. because i don´t give a single fuck about this historic shit. and to those that are all hyped about Battlefield 1 one word Battlefront.

Call me an idiot, but I don't care about either game! They're just 2 cashcow games from 2 major companies.

You know EA will bring out half a game and sell the other half as DLC.

I'm not saying the games are bad, but I don't see any innovation coming from these games and I'd rather pay 30$ for an indie dev with a great little game, rather than spending it on these money hungry dogs!

The reason why Battlefield is getting such positive feedback is simply because Dice listened (somewhat) to the fans. The Battlefield community, and certain a good chunk of the CoD community, would love to have more realistic/historic-based settings.

And Dice certainly did the unthinkable and went for exactly that. Not to mention that they've taken a HUGE risk here by going so far back. Not to mention that we now have a Triple A title that has a setting which isn't represented very often in FPS.

Another thing that has really plagued the BF series is the sheer oversaturation of explosive devices. The amount of it in BC2 and BF3 were still tolerable to a certain extend, but was taking to the (negative) extreme in BF4, which ultimately lead to a small skill gap and generally hurt the objective of Dice to strengthen the teamplay aspect of the game.

With WW1 we are going "back to basics", where a new age of warfare slowly emerged with fighter planes, zeppelins and most importantly tanks, where the weapons hadn't a rate of fire of over 800rpm, where the customization was available, but wasn't to the same extend.

Through the CTE programme, Dice (and EA) noticed that the input that the community was incredibly valueable and ultimately they've implemented and taken up a lot of ideas what the community wished for like a more primitive setting, widen the skill gap, less explosive devices, more focus on team play and generally a decluttering of the overall customization, which was so extensive in BF4, that it was almost impossible to find the right setup for your gun and the situation at hand without above average knowledge on how the gun mechanics work or without researching and checking on sites like symthic.com.

In terms of optimization, bugs and stability at launch I'd say that Hardline and Battlefront have proven to be stable, and considering that Dice is still using the Frostbite 4 engine, an engine that has been in use for a few years now, and with the aforementioned CTE initiative, they were able to stabilize the entire thing in BF4 that the game became more and more enjoyable in the long run and offered a stable launch (that's my experience) of both Hardline and Battlefront.

So generally, I'm very excited about Battlefield 1, although it's an utterly stupid name. The setting is fantastic, and hopefully they'll be able to capture the gruesomeness and violent nature of that war. The customization is available, but should be limited to the useful expansions (scopes, longer/heavier barrels, suppressors, magazine expansion) and with a more focus on skill and most important team work. Things that got me into Battlefield in the first place.

Are you for real? In what universe do you live where futuristic shooters aren't selling well? COD, Halo, Battlefront, Titanfall, Crysis, Borderlands, Star Citizen, Warframe... The list goes on. Futuristic shooters is like the best selling genre and have been for several years.

If anything, it seems like a vocal minority that wants more historic FPS games, while the silent majority wants futuristic games.

Amen to that. Like I said in the other thread, I fully expect BF1 to just be BF4 with a WW1 skin on top of it and possibly some chemical warfare gimmick.

EA's marketing team is very impressive. They got people shitting their pants for a trailer that doesn't even show any proper gameplay. They were holding an entire event for a pre-rendered cinematic trailer, and people lost their minds.

I watched the BF1 trailer at first and of course I got hyped like everyone else, but when I went to see the Infinite Warfare trailer, I didn't realize how laughably terrible the trailer is, especially in comparison to BF1.

Still don't understand why Activision/IW thought the community wanted an even more futuristic game.

People didn't even like that it was in the future in the first place.

I'll probably buy it just for Modern Warfare.

Return to the roots.....

On the other hand, the BF1 trailer blew me away, even if only 15% of it was actual gameplay.

I think a lot of people are going to spend the 70 or so on the game just for remastered. I'd do the same but then I realized: if the game is a flop they'll release remastered separately and everyone will buy that instead of Infinite Warfare.

Also on the other hand, IMO BF1 shits on IW so that's good.

I can't wait for BF1 to drop, not preordering tho as it's only a pre-render trailer. I'll wait for more things to come out of it first.

The problem I think isn't with the Future/near-future setting itself, it opens up a lot of possibilities for fun game mechanics and whatnot, the problem is that it's the same fuckin game again, with a different coat of paint...While Activision thought they could get away with it infinitely(no pun intended...or maybe?) re-releasing the same game, this definitely shows that people will only swallow so-much of the bullshit.

If you ask me  COD should just go F2P with microtrsansactions, and expand on that one game for the long-term, it would make much more sense IMHO, than fragmenting their fan/userbase with yearly releases and map-packs.

On the topic of BF1, I'm actually intrigued by it and there's not a lot of games covering the ww1 material afaik, gonna be interesting to see what they do with it.

This is an interesting twist though, with things like zepellins and horse back warfare which has never really been done in an online FPS of this scale, as well as things like the red baron and all sorts

Its a "fresh" take on an old idea, and with their latest engine should look fucking gorgeous too

Let's hope MW remastered isn't actually bundled with IW so that I can buy an actual FPS with a good storyline

It gonna release as buggy as Battlefront

How did Battlefront released buggy? i only played the free beta and besides looking like shit and having choppy framerate because my rig is 5 year old hardware, it was fine on that aspect, yeah the game is super shallow but that doesn't mean its a buggy mess, AFAIK there weren't complains about game breaking bugs at launch, mostly balance issues with those card things and guns, even then it was accounted as the most polished release DICE had since bad company 2.

I guess you confused Battlefront with BF4, or there's something i'm missing since i don't have that game?

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here
