I thought this was great.

On some of the other boards that I visit, everyone is now getting refunds on their pre-orders. The reasons seem to vary but if the entire internet is reacting in the same way then this style change came back to bite Blizzard in the ass... sorry another bad pun...

I don't go on forums where this nonsense happens, but even beyond that I think I just gave up on life as these things happen.

Considering how much manga, galge and anime I consume on a daily basis, I'll be crucified ten times over by 3rd-wave feminists.

(Musaigen no Phantom World was fun...).

So why don't Blizzard do what most galges do? Release an all-ages version and secretly help a 3rd-party patch of the ACTUAL SHIT THAT MATTERS. (Hello Shiny Days... Google the controversy on that one)

Nvm, here it is:

http://blog.fuwanovel.net/2015/04/endorse-jasts-censorship-shiny-days/

Quote

From the official forum announcement:

While there will not be any kind of official patch to fix these scenes by us, we’re confident the Internet will make such a patch for fans who want this content back in the game.

(Note that this part was in a smaller font than the rest of the message, a subtle hint that there’s more to this than what they’re letting on.)

Peter Payne, chief of JAST and J-List, added less subtly in a fit of exasperation:

…I am all but saying there’ll be a 99.9% official patch through unofficial channels…

This implies that an unofficial patch might not only restore the cut content, but that it could even be professionally demosaiced. JAST made similar statements about Starless, which has yet to be released. A recent leak suggests that a restoration patch for cut content in Starless already exists.

so the world is changing but you want it to stay the same to accommodate your moral code? ever considered that maybe the problem is that sex is demonized to such extremes that it is considered more offensive than killing people? action movie where a guy murders an entire city? to night at 6 enjoy. a girl and a guy share a passionate kiss? ramp that thing to 11PM. don't want the kiddies to see that.

you think people start having orgies on nudist beaches? a lot of eastern countries have very big problems with rapes and sex is basically a taboo subject and you have seen how the women dress there. what does your moral code say about that?

See, this is what's wrong with politics these days. You have one opinion that is different from someone else and without saying anything else suddenly you're labeled with stuff like this.

Everyone's morality is on a scale. At 1 you've got "lock your wives in the house because they're all just too sexy." At 10 you've got, "what are wives? We all have sex as we walk down the street." Maybe an hormone driven male would think 10 is good and maybe some crazy guys somewhere think 1 is good but I think we can all agree both are bad or at the very least unhealthy. So...where is the line that you draw? If it's not literally "everything goes" at what point does your sense of morality kick in and say "that's just not something I'm comfortable with?" Everyone has that line somewhere. So, mine probably kicks in a bit sooner than yours, maybe I'm a 5 with an opinion of "sex is great and being sexy is great for both men and women but there's a time and a place for everything" and your a 6 with and opinion of "there's no problem in showing a little at any given time," but does that really warrant the rudeness in these sort of discussions? Can't we have a discussion about these sorts of things without all of the hyperbole and jumping to conclusions? Not to mention logical fallacies.

That's a great comic.

I heard about people cancelling their preorders and I have to say that that's a ridiculous over reaction. That's just as bad a response to this as the original response to the pose was.

I personally have no problem with their reasoning for removing the pose once they clarified that a bit, but people seem to have turned a fight against ridiculous 'sexism' into a fight to keep this pose in the game no matter what. We've gotten more than a little off track here.

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

Don't get me started on unfairness in the workplace.  I posted in this forum about simple facts that paid maternity/paternity leave is actually unfair to childless employees because the workers with children by personal choice are getting more benefits.options/freedom than employees who make the personal choice to not have children at all.

I was then eviscerated with a bevy of angry replies.  In fact, you know that part about the forum rules that states no personal attacks should be made?  I guess it didn't apply to my post, and the handful of users unleashing visceral and hateful attacks my way.  Isn't it lovely when moderators get the free reign to "look the other way" at their own choosing?

What opinion? All you did was give some half-assed "yeah, but morality guys!" while not directly arguing anything about this case, and now again you go on some extremely broad rant about sexual morality.

This isn't day-to-day social values about sex, this is media entertainment. The majority of the people looking to buy and play Overwatch don't care about this pose, and they vastly outnumber the concerned parents of underage children. Complaints about the "sexualization" of the female body in video games are at best just an annoyance (like a mosquito's buzzing) from the self-righteous concerned parents and feminist ideologues, and at worst it is something that developers/publishers act upon. Kaplan's immediate response to this issue, and then his subsequent post trying to save face, makes me worried for further direction of the game.

The complaint from this parent is on the face of it fundamentally flawed, their 8yr old daughter playing a Teen-rated game makes their position preposterous and absurd. But that's not all, the parent hypocritically justifies widow-makers flaunted sexual nature and then goes on about how Tracer can't have any sex appeal, it's ridiculous. Never mind the fact that the over the shoulder pose is only "sexual" if the person perceives it that way, this person is trying to decide for everyone else what should be in a relatively minute and optional pose.

The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn't understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.

Sad to see Blizzard giving in to SJW bologna. We need game developers to grow some testicles/ovaries (whichever is applicable) and stand by their creative vision.  Nobody is forcing you to buy their game,  and if you're worried that the game isn't right for your child than don't buy it for them.

Because sexualization somehow makes someone worthless, and is negative. According to the "progressives". Which is funny because it's a very prudish attitude when you think about it.

I understand that there are issues with how genders are portrayed in the media but I understand the bias towards straight male gamers. sometimes I just feel left out is all :/

From what I gleamed from The Know there are basically the same victory poses already in the game for other characters, including the blokes.

hyperboles? i gave you real life examples. worthy of far more attention that what you complain about. This isn't about lets all have sex while walking down the street it's about sex being turned into something to hide when so many more things are thrust into everyone's faces. I don't have time to discuss this now but there have been so many studies and books on this stuff. The more normal and common place something is the less it is viewed as something exotic to be desired. Many parents try their best to avoid their kids being exposed to flat out pornography. Fair enough. I will most likely do the same with my kids. But neither them, nor i try to take down instagram or tv networks because girls post butt selfies or start twearking or games that have characters in tight cloths that ANYONE CAN ALREADY SEE ON THE GODAM STREET EVERYDAY.

You have a problem with these things? fine but how about first solving the real world examples that a child will see every day instead of a game about people killing each other for sport that he shouldn't even be playing at his age and wont even be allowed for more that 1-2 hours of the day.
