on threads the profile pictures are displayed at 90x90 and on profiles it's displayed at 120x120

I would suggest just making it like 500x500

Done. The only way I got it under 2MB was resizing because compression made it look horrible and resizing was the only option left especially with these kinds of complex graphics.
