When making a budget build you have 2 options. Buy a low end CPU and a mid range GPU or buy a low end GPU and mid range CPU. Through personal preference I rather have more cpu power than gpu power because of the games I play. Also it is far easier to upgrade a GPU than a CPU in the future. As well as this gtx 950s are still pretty good cards and will run most games with medium settings with little or no issues.

Get used i5 + new 960.

You dont have to worry much about the life span of a processor because it's the most durable part of a PC. :)

I feel the logical way to go is I5 gtx 950. The card is pretty decent and I3 processors are very outdated very quickly. Also you want to make sure your GPU doesn't outclass your GPU which with the GTX 960 and I3 processor may happen reducing the effectiveness or the 960.

The Gtx 950 is still a powerful card and for the average gamer should be perfectly sufficient.

I agree, but the 960 is even better.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
