worth to upgrade from iphone 13 to 15 pro or wait iphone 16 ?

Hello
Do you think worth to upgrade from iPhone 13 to 15 pro or wait 16 ?

I do not know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone

Personally I have an iPhone 12 and I'm in all likelihood gonna keep using it until it stops getting software upgrades. Only compelling feature I've seen coming out of new iPhones are the new displays but imo that doesn't justify an upgrade.

Of course to each their own.

Been a while since a phone "upgrade" made sense IMO. When it's dead buy a new one (or yeah, way out of software support) but there hasn't been anything worth replacing feature-wise in a while.

If you are someone who values having the latest technology and can benefit from the specific upgrades in the iPhone 15 Pro (like better performance, improved camera, and display enhancements), then upgrading now could be worthwhile. However, if you are satisfied with your iPhone 13 and prefer to wait for potentially more significant improvements in the iPhone 16, holding off might be the better option. Ultimately, it depends on your personal preferences, budget, and how much you value the incremental improvements.

@PSP.

iPhone 16 is only a few months away probably (September?). If you really want the best performance and features, I would suggest to wait. There is the AI boom so good AI features might be added.

This is just a general sense. You should only buy when the new thing is just out and if the new thing is close enough to be wait-able, just wait. You would feel left behind.

Microsoft owns my soul.

Also, Dell is evil, but HP kinda nice.

No, phone upgrades aren't a necessary thing anymore, as the industry is plateauing a bit.  Performance is stagnant in a real world setting, it's about new features like AI taking your pics for you.

If you want to waste money, upgrade your phone 🙂

only real reasons youd upgrade a high end phone nowadays is either you game on your phone (especially for heavier games or competitive stuff) or you need a better camera

iphones already have much better cpus than whatever rubbish qualcomm is putting out so gaming shouldnt really be an issue as long as you arent gpu limited, and the cameras on iphones are already really good

so if you are satisfied with your phone theres no need to upgrade cause its just a waste of money

pretty sure if i get the cash to go buy a rog 8 (~700$) id probably be completely set for a long while, even if snapdragons are far weaker cpu wise than apple itll probably still be enough to run mc at 165fps and i definitely still intend on playing mc once i get a phone thatll actually run it well and not stutter + lag into oblivion, and just for school work stuff this crappy vivo will still last me quite awhile so i dont intend on ditching this thing till it really dies and i cant just replace the display whenever i manage to inevitably destroy it =p

Qualcomm CPU/GPUs are rubbish?  Be less dramatic and provide information for the OP to digest, not just "this is trash, that is garbage".

I've owned every generation of iPhone since the 6S.

Upgrading from the iPhone 12 would be a total waste of money.

The only big jump from the 12 would be USB-C. If you're looking at the Pro models, you would also be getting 120Hz display, and a big fat sensor that greatly improves video quality. The better video was why I switched back from a 13 Mini to the 14 Pro. Photo quality is a mixed bag - there are daily threads on the subreddit complaining about photos on the 13/14/15 being much worse than their old 8/X/XS/11.

Id wait for the 16. Im still driving an XR, so its going to be a BIG upgrade for me. The reason Id say go with the 16, is you should be able to drive that phone for at least 2029 to 2031 Id figure with how Apple supports devices. As long as you take care of it.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

  • 2 weeks later...

What is your battery charging discipline?  Or what is the phone's rating of your battery?

The sixth month "upgrade" cycle appears to have been incrementalism.   Some are waiting for satellite calling.  Impulse buyers I know use it as a camera with sms texting.

What are your phone priorities?

It’s not 2012 and new phone releases aren’t that big a deal anymore. Buy a new phone if you feel like it’s time to buy a new phone.
