Do you think the next generation consoles will support 4k @60fps?

As the title says, do you guys think that whenever the next gen consoles come out, they'll support 4k @60fps games?

Yes, they will.  However, (don't want to be a complete douche) PC(MR) will probably be at 8K since 4K screens come somewhat cheap now.  (Compared to what they used to be.

Yeah, they'll probably shoot for outputting at 4k, but games will run at like 900p still. Which is no big deal on a 1080p tv. But only time can tell. Hopefully nothing comes out right after 4K to make it obsolete. 4K is shooting current gen in the foot.

I think they will support 4k 60, but most games will run at 30 frames and at lower then ultra settings.

4K for 400$?

they are said to come in 2018, by that time, be happy if a normal video card will run 4k@60 (like r9 380 or smth like that now)

They better game at 4k... i mean think about the time difference from xbox 360 to xbox one. Now think of the technology we will have in that many years... buy that time pc games will be at 5k gaming and console will be starting to game at 4k.

next gen consoles are scheduled for 2018 btw...

I hope they never come out after how much of a flop this gen was performance wise,

they didn't even get any architectual advantage unlike PS3 / X360

maybe HSA... but it doesn't look like it's being of much help

4k 30FPS at best... And I doubt it really really much. More like 1080p 60FPS.

well seeing as most games run at 900p. I would say they will be standard at 1080p maybe 60fps, but who knows.

Perhaps 4k 30fps (1440p seems like a better jump but they will probably stick to TV resolutions), but by then most PCs will be at 4k 60 fps with much better graphics as usual. And even if they are 4k, they will probably be 4k like the ones now are "1080p", as in, running less than that most of the time.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Support it, yes, just like the current consoles fully support 1080p 60FPS. It's just a question of what framerate most games will actually be coded to run at.

I doubt it . I don't think console will quadruple in power or more in 5 years.

i hope there comes a time where pc gaming is more main stream cause if we are in 2018 only doing 1080p @60 thats just sad. Nothing else to say but sad

Unlikely. And if they did, it would be potentially very expensive, especially for a console.

If they are released before 2019, I'd say no way. If they hold off until 2019 or later, likely.

That being said, higher than 1080p resolutions are slowly making a name in the market, the companies that produce the consoles won't produce a new console without a significant performance increase or a major gimmick (like VR).

So if these companies don't rely on a gimmick they will have produce a console with significant performance increase, it will almost have to be able to run at 4k resolutions.  To meet a point where consumers can afford this, the companies will have to wait until the technology will be cheap enough to sell.
