But why? Nvidia launches GT 710 Graphics Card

I like the look of the EVGA one :P Might get one for troubleshooting older rigs or something :P

I just think it's funny how the EVGA one might be the only graphics card that looks far taller than it is long, even though in reality it is a square.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.

@EcoBoost I guess... Pretty obvious since that card could almost run on USB 3.0 :D

this comes in handy for old PCs and computers with broken video outputs, and even some servers if they need a video output, and there is obviously a need for this card otherwise what's the point in nvidia releasing it.

It's HDMI 1.4a though, so 4K is only at 30Hz.

well i mean.... its 30 bucks and your not exactly gonna be enjoying crysis 3 at 4k.... so id say its fairly good.

@TheRandomness Got an old HD 3650 for that purpose :D

This is a rare moment where I'd get this just for the looks

Oh. Looks so derpy though xD

Pst, a GTX 650ti 2GB is a better choice and won't bottleneck on Core 2 Duo systems.

I know, which is why I stated "for $30 brand new" as I know some people who are quite afraid of buying second hand parts for whatever reason (warranty?).

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

This card has been out for two years already as far as I know... Or was that the mobile variant.

Almost two years.

My server may get one of these, and I would have put them in the servers at my old job if it was out when I was there. Running administration on the server "GPU" that only supports 1280x1024 sucks. Oh you wanted to see two things at once? Sorry no screen space for that. Some of the Server 2008 windows barely fit on the screen in their default size.

The x8 connection is sweet too because most servers don't have anything past that available.

I do not believe a 2500 supports 4k 60hz though.

Well, I think the graphics chip itself can handle it, but there is simply no motherboard with HDMI 2.0 for that socket :P

Core 2 Duo E8500 and Pentium E6500K never bottlenecked my GTX 650ti OC 2GB. I've got the hardware and I've done the comparisons. And the FPS being wonky is due to the game trying to utilise more than 2 threads, which is why I recommend Core 2 Quad over and Core 2 Duo.

I agree actually, for $30 brand new it's not a bad choice for upgrading an older rig to play less demanding games like League of Legends, as I'm pretty sure a cheap retired Core 2 Duo system + one of these would be up to the task.

still a stupid product considering you can get an r7 250/gt 740 for 60$

Guys , I was in a similar position a few months ago.

I had an old system but with not GPU (I kept my GPU and am still using it) . Being quite an old machine , it had no iGPU whatsoever. It was for my grandparents and they didn't really need anything powerful , so I just got the cheapest GPU I could find , which was an r7 240. (actually not the cheapest , the GT 210 was the cheapest , but come on) .

I had a old PC and needed a dedicated graphics card, picked up the 5450. Just saying, low price cards still have an audience, they're just not LTT forum users  :P  :D

Sounds perfect for when I need to attach a display to my NAS for setup purposes or flashing the raid card's firmware yet again.  Right now it's giving no image whatsoever when plugging a VGA cable in the on-board connector.  (probably because it has nothing on board at all in terms of graphics).

Sure, I could remove one of the 770s and half the wiring loom from my main rig, but I'd rather spend $30 on a cheap card so I can leave that one alone.

There IS a market for this, albeit a smaller one than for most gaming cards.

Well, that's correct. But do you need a brand new Maxwell based GPU like the GT710 to playback 4K videos? Pretty much any video card that was made in the last 2-3 years can do that already.

True, I'd probably just go second hand, but for some reason not all people want to do that, so I guess this card might make sense for them.
