Smart Guns?

Just caught this on CNet. Makes me wonder if this is actually useful. Honestly a gun that has to be close to a watch before it can be fired? I know we have seen something similar using smartphones and bluetooth for your computer, Reliable it was not. 

 

The Intelligent Pistol, from Armatix, can fire only when it's within ten inches of a synchronized watch.

the more gun control the better but this needs to work with all guns

I feel like stuff like this, while innovative and smart, is a lot harder to put into play than people think.  There's a lot of guns already out there without such technology, and there will be ways to bypass systems like this.

Not to be that guy but i personally hate gun control. I carry a pistol with me everywhere i go, and its for protection. How the world is going with shootings everywhere, you dont think these crazy people could get their hands on a gun? Well let me tell you, if they do have a gun, i do to. And not to toot my own horn but i dont miss.

The only true safety on a gun isn't on the gun, it's in your mind. 

 

This just makes guns useless for self defense. What if you forget your watch at home? What if your watch dies? What if somebody steals the watch? What if you're being attacked, and the electronic mechanism fails? 

 

Nobody would buy a gun like this. Useless for sport, useless for self defense, useless for hunting. This would only promote the sale of illegal firearms, since anybody serious about protecting their family doesn't want anything like this. It gives criminals an advantage, since they don't have to worry about that safety when they buy a gun on the black market. It'll probably be easier to take down police in something like a bank robbery, since they'll be scrambling to shove their gun onto their wrist so it'll shoot.

The end result people are going for usually is a decrease in crime, Unfortunately while there will be a dip at the beginning of removing guns, it levels back out.  Crazy people be crazy. Guns or no.

Anywhere outside of my house really. Even inside my house. Robberies happen every day. There is no place that you can honestly say a person who may go crazy or attempt to harm you couldnt get you.

 

How many mall shootings have there been? Gas Stations? Public Shootings? How many robberies are there where you may be in the house still (i saw a commercial about this and its 80% that someone may still be in the house when someone robs a house).

 

Its not that i warrant the need for one, or that i constantly get myself into trouble or hang out with the wrong crowd. Its overall protection and protection for those who are around me. I have heard many times about people feeling much safer knowing there is someone there to protect them if something happens (i dont tell hardly anyone i carry, as thats the point).

Is it really that bad in places? Never visited the states but I can't think of a single place I've been in Europe where I think "I need a gun."

Watch someone steal it from your holster and shoot you with it, As long as it is within 10 inches your out for the count!
