if this happens,They'll increase internet speeds...

I can dream.

More like increase the speed and increase the price by tenfold

Time Warner Cable and Time Warner are two separate entities. Apple would be buying Time Warner while TWC is currently "independent", and has been since 2009, until Charter or another company officially acquires it.

 

I'm also surprised nobody has realised that the Time Warner Apple could be buying is a separate entity from Time Warner Cable which was already bought by Charter Communications.

Tons of people get confused between the two, TWC should really rename themselves. Hopefully Charter just consumes it and TWC as a name can die off.

At least if they buy Time Warner there's a chance you'll get better customer service. 

 

-edit- TW and TWC are separate entities. Still, this is great for Apple. They've been a media distribution company for ages with the app store, and iTunes. Everything else has been a way to access this content so it makes sense that they'd start to vertically integrate their supply chain and secure content (similar to what Netflix has been doing with original content).

Plenty of people, me included, already pay way more than that. I pay somewhere around $120/month for gigabit on comcast.

Serious note: This may be a good thing in the long term, Apple customer service is worlds better and it may take a year or so to straighten things out. But then again with Apples track record this could be bad just the same.

it would be amazing if that was all I had to pay for my connection. Comcast in my area is already more than double that. And this is just a residential connection.

although this would make the ISP faster there will be negative consequences...

 

when Apple buys up companies, they do it for their people and tech, anything that comes with the package that doesn't add value for them they would usually just dump or close down. Any of those TV channels that do not bring in huge profits might be closed down...
