Wisdom teeth?

So I'm 18, and my wisdom teeth are slowly emerging. From what I can tell, they arent emerging wrong, and other than a few crooked teeth on my lower jaw, I have had no troubles so far.

Pretty much all my friends got them removed at some time during high school, however my dentist never brings them up during my general check ups.

Many people make them seem really bad, so I was just wondering how many of you still have them, and have not had any issues?

I'm 17 and mine are coming through, no problems so far so can't see a reason to have them removed. Ask your dentist about them in your next check-up?

The concern is that if your mouth does not have room, they will push your other teeth around.  Plus, once they are fully in, they have much stronger roots than any other teeth so if you are going to need to have them removed, they usually try to do it sooner than later.  If it hasn't been brought up, just ask next time, but my bet is they've decided you're fine.

If they are emerging nicely it shouldn't be a problem

I had one removed with just local anesthesia. Wasn't a major issue

Yeah, I'm in Canada for Uni, but wen I go back for the summer, I will likely get it looked at...

If it ain't broke don't fix it... I guess that sort of applies here.

If they aren't causing you problems then there's no need to remove them. If your dentist isn't bringing them up then they're fine, your dentist will know a lot more about teeth than us lot on here.

mostly because 90% of people have pain when it comes in and fucks up your teeth

Yeah, my jaw is apparently smaller than most, which lead to crowding of some teeth on the lower jaw, which is why I'm a bit surprised that I have not had any problems yet...

Mine have been growing since I have been sixteen and now at eighteen they are almost completely good. Some people get lucky, some don't. They can take like.. Xrays of your mouth to see if they are going to grow good.

Yeah, I've had those x-rays done pretty much every time I have the annual checkup at the dentist...

If they were coming out crooked, I would assume they would have noticed it, but all they tell me is to floss more...

it can ruin your teeth, and if they get cavities dentist will pull them in stead of fill them. My Mom has all but 1 because the dentist pulled it. I only have one that's taking its time developing on the top left i believe... I only have one so I don't want to keep it... If it was none or all I'd be much happier(I wouldn't get rid of them if it was all)

When I joined the USMC, in 1984, the boot camp dentist wanted to remove mine. I asked him if they were going to cause me problems, and he said that they might later in life. I said i will deal with it then. 31 years later I have them still and they came in perfectly straight and have caused me no issues.

All that being said. If they are coming in straight and not drastically pushing the row of teeth in front of them out of whack, I'd leave them alone. Plus your dentist would tell you if they were going to cause you issues. I think the boot camp dentist wanted to practice on me

It's always a good day if you woke up breathing.

Im 26 and just had one removed due to a cavity that started when it was coming in, the removal wasn't too bad but they did have to break it several times as well as bust out the drill.  I'll be having my top two taken out at some point since they're coming in crooked.  I've still got one left to come in.

Mine always seemed to move in stages and would usually cause pain, swelling and sometimes a fever for a couple days while things shifted but then it'd be fine until things got moving again.
