Hair growth?

spyder

I am at the nearly 5 month stage of not cutting my hair, really want to see what my hair looks like long, its the awkward stage right now where it looks very messy. I always get asked by my family members to cut it, but here I am determined. Has anyone else got really long hair or bold? / experimented with growing hair very long?

yes, i was younger then, and my mom made me do it. later on i regretted it, and for a reason because it looked bad. if YOU want to do it, go ahead. dont do it if someone else makes/wants you do it(i know that you want it, but i said that just for someone else who might read this).

My hair is about 8 inches long at this point (haven't gotten a cut for 2 months) and I just keep growing it out, my family has just grown to accept it. Earlier this summer my hair was nearly 14 inches long and I had it either brushed back or in a bun, I looked pretty noi

My simple reply is: I'll cut it later but never specify.

Maybe...

Basically, I just didn't cut it for almost 9 years. It was a bitch to keep so it is long gone.

I never did anything special. I washed my hair about 3 times a week and I never used conditioner (I still don't).

I have heard that giving yourself regular head massages should help hair grow, and there are various products you can buy to help grow your hair long.

However, I have never seen any tangible evidence that these things work, so I can't really recommend them.

As for your family, just ignore them. They aren't the one walking around with the hair so they don't have a say in how it looks.

I knew a guy in high school who had like decently long hair. Did take him some time to grow it, I would say don't give up I guess :P

Personally I can't grow long hair, because my hair gets curly and that's just shitty

I tried last time, survived up to 5 months but the wind when outside would mess up my hair so badly, that I just ticked and cut it off.

I have been using an oil product to keep the hair lubricated, and not dry. But damn that's way longer than I wanted, I'm aiming for shoulder length max. Props to you for that dedication.

It wasn't so much dedication as it was a lack of funds. I couldn't afford going to a hair dresser and very few homeless people know how to cut hair.

So I was stuck with just letting it grow. Luckily, I was also way into the metal scene, so I fit in rather nicely.

I never understood why people uses oils and conditioners on their hair. The point of those porducts is to emulated the natural oils in your hair, which is what you are washing away with shampoo. Wouldn't it be more cost effective to only use shampoo every other time you use the shower?

I've been using castor oil from time to time, I looked it up on the internet, people have been recommending it saying it makes your hair "grow twice as fast". I didn't even need to buy it since there was already a bottle of it in the house. It is useful especially if you want to give your hair a wet look or slick it back because of its thickness. I've read that shampoo especially consistent use can damage the hair which is not exactly what I'm going for.
