Porn? Debate Club, week 2

Hello World, Wlecome to the Debate corner!

Today we will be discussing the ethics of porn. Is it OK for teens to watch it? Does it affect them? Should Parents be against it?

Rules:

1- Don't shitpost. Make your stance clear, and explain your reasoning. This goes both ways, don't combat an argument with a throwaway comment, like "hurr durr that's racist" without explaining yourself.

2- Try to keep the anger to a minimum, don't start a flame war and DON'T bring up religious/other sensetive topics because that can really fuel the flames. Keep it civil, this isn't a "which GPU" thread.

3-I will present the topic in the simplest way possible, (often just name, or a linked article(s) if more obscure topic)to avoid seeding bias in the OP. After several posts I will give my own thoughts on the topic once several views have been established.

4: as of now we will not be discussing politics, this may change somewhere down the line, but I don't want to make these threads flame wars.

5: And of course, follow the Code of Conduct.

We already know it negatively effects the brain in some ways. For me, it's like smoking. It hurts you (definitely not the same way as smoking haha) but you can do it, I don't care.

I will say this and always remain saying the same thing.

 

If you can't tell the difference between porn and a real life woman, then you need some serious help.

 

 

A lot of it has nothing to do with porn, people are brought up in cotton wool these days and are blanketed from seeing the real world, so some men grow up as virgins which is not an issue at all, but when these people are forever watching porn they grow into thinking women are what they see in porn, including looks and the rest of it, they even forget what themselves look like and will set a standard far too high.

Look it up! Google is your friend I tell people.

 

It rewires how some people think about sex. If you haven't had sex, it'll negatively effect what you'll expect from it. It can make you less attracted to a partner (which is very common among studies, they find that men that watch LOTS of porn become much less attracted to their significant other) ect. Just because you do it doesn't mean you're gonna die, that's what smoking is for.

 

Oh yeah! You can get addicted to it very easily. I'm sure that's bad in a way.

Google is a very effective way of providing evidence, me just googling "is porn bad for you" gave me studies from reputable websites. Googling "is porn good for you" gave me the same results (saying it isn't..)

 

I know mods are scared of Google for some reason (isn't lmgtfy banned?) but it's a super useful tool.

I'll mention this real quick.

 

Look into the documentaries on how the porn industry impacts the performers involved.  It's one of the reasons I changed my opinion about it.  It's not healthy for many people involved.
