Why are phone screens getting bigger?

Overkilled

Phone screens are increasing at a drastic pace, you can get phone screens all the way up to 7 inches now days and its always baffled me. I never knew why manufactures kept pushing it but I think this chart will help explain why phone screens are getting bigger

That chart technically isn't wrong either.

Media consumption is a big part of our lives, so we want bigger screens for that.

In the Note line case, i think its just because it's better for multitasking.

4 percent of sites out there are porn, 12 percent of searches are for porn. Bigger = Better

well.... there are still "small" phones.. its not like they are extinct...

And im guessing people like "bigger" phones (like myself) for media consumption that is pretty much it.

It's 100% e-peen. Pretty soon we'll have 18" phones that people will need a backpack to carry around. But hey, at least their phone is bigger than yours.

4.5-5 is like the sweet spot IMO

Exactly, iPhone 4s is the best

5.5" is my maximum, otherwise I'll get a tablet.

people are watching more videos on mobile nowadays. whether it be youtube, or netflix, or porn, they watch it on their phones. bigger screen means easier viewing.

I went from a iphone 4 to and HTC M7 and felt the M7 was huge why would anyone want a larger phone. I was looking at getting the Nexus 5x but my carrier had a deal to get the 6P for the same price as the 5x. While I have got used to the size of the 6P I still feel it is too big and I have large hands. Saying that though I just lent my iphone to a friend who had hers stolen and that thing is so tiny I don't know how I used it.

I will probably go back to a 5ish inch phone next. I usually keep a phone for 2-3 years so hopefully battery tech has gotten better and smaller phones come back.

I blame da KOREANS! >_> *shifty eyes intensify*

I personally hate it due to pockets not getting any bigger...4-6.5 inches should be the sweet spot for most phones. Any bigger should just be reserved for the fancy Iphone pluses and Samsung Notes of the world lol

If a phone like the Nexus 5x had the specs of the 6p or S6 I would be a happy boy :3

I don't understand why there are phones in the market that can't fit into your pocket.

I've noticed it's women who tend to by the bigger phones, who of course put them in their bags rather than pockets. Only the most devoted to the 'waving of my epeen around' type of men who ever buy more than one huge phone.

For me 4.5-5" is also a sweet spot... Anything bigger than that just feels awkward & uncomfortable to use...

Cause they can't think of any other ways to sell it, so bigger screen = easier to sell.

Everyone wants to replace their laptops, tablets, and smartphones with phablets and 2-in1s

Got an Android, never going back to apple again (notice I spelled apple with a lowercase and Android with an uppercase)
