16699 # Keeps Calling Saying Their Dell

KB_TheDireWolf

The full number is 16699, they have been calling me for the last few weeks. I pick up once, a heavily accented man aweser saying that he is with dell.

Him: Am with Dell, I have detected that your computer is running slowly. I would like to take remote access to your computer to fix the problem.

Me: (I have delt with Dell a number of times due to me having a 17R. For some reason they never contacted me when my PC had something wrong with it... lol)

Yah, I call horseshit I know dell doesn't track that stuff bye.

Even after that they haven't quit calling, I almost want to try and troll them well recording the conversation.......

Tell them that if they are able to tell how your computer is running that they must have planted a virus on it and that you are going to report them to the police.  Turn it around and start asking them questions!

That might work in this specific instance, but with most of these scams, they come from a different number every time and are even able to fake coming from numbers in your area, or even your own number.  Keep that in mind :)

One this Indian scammer kept calling me, I was fed up so I just decided to piss him off by wasting 3 hours of his time.

Lets just say he never contacted me again

There was one time "Microsoft" called me...luckily I was the only one at home instead of my family.

But that is besides the point, I answered the phone, and they were trying to get me to let them do with that they wanted.

I told them I was from Microsoft...and asked for their department manager. They hung up immediately

I've never personally dealt with them but they've called the house a few times before.  I would want to just rip into them so hard... like "Really?  This is what you do?  Are your kids proud you scam people over the phone all day?" and then things I won't type here :)

Do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVQoAlQrnSg

In fact, contact Carey and have him "handle" the scammers himself, I'm sure he'd do it gladly

Used to get calls from "windows" some guy telling me I have a virus

So, "Windows Technical Support" scammers, renamed themselves to "Dell Technical Support".

I guess people caught on, and now trying something different.

i hope one day they contact me. all my OEM machines are in the clouset collecting dust.

and.. i can be quite comical when channeling my internal amish grandpa.

not to mention most of my stuff is moving to linux. i'm gonna have SO much fun when "hp tek sappurt" calls me, and they realise they are facing a text based arch linux install.

i wonder if it'd be funny if you put on a crappy accent troughout the entire call.

"please press da x butin"

"wer is da x butin, i no have my playstashun controler around?"

offcourse you should use a different name as well, like calling yourself daler mehndi.

so, I've had the same cell # since 2006.. I have had to setup "do not answer" contacts in my phone to add these callers to(usually with a silly picture for the contact) .. they will get through the first time, but my phone doesn't even ring when they call the next time.

the unwanted calls got really bad last year, and I ballooned up to now 7 dedicated contacts that are stuffed full of numbers that I will not answer.. its like a mini phone book of numbers that I can give out to people i don't want calling me :)

*got the # when i bought an iphone(1)

*using Lumia 1520 at the moment (and hating winPhone10)
