Been watching for ~1 year. The R7 240 video really pissed me off for many reasons, which caused me to kinda take his word as a grain of salt.

What he said in that video is that any entry level, whether it's from Nvidia or AMD, are shit anyways and you will be getting a better bang for the buck if you save a few more extra pretty pennies on a GPU. It's in the description of that exact video and I knew what he was talking about. Also as comparisons in the video, all the other cards he tested against the R7 240 are all AMD cards - the HD7970 and the R7 260X. Now if he did the same review with a low-end Nvidia card, it would probably be things like the GT 740 compared against the GTX 760 and the GTX 770. So it was all fair because he was criticizing all the entry-level cards indiscriminately, using AMD as that representation. His whole point is don't by low-end "junk", it doesn't matter if you're going for Red or Green team, just don't buy low-end stuff anyways.

Now for the Nvidia side, the ones that would be perfectly representative would be things like the GT 740 compared against the GTX 760 and the GTX 770. So it was all fair because he was criticizing all the entry-level cards indiscriminately, using AMD as that representation. His whole point is don't by low-end "junk", it doesn't matter if you're going for Red or Green team, just don't buy low-end stuff anyways.

What pissed me off the most about was not that he was saying save more money, but his ignorance in it. People who are buying this are looking to upgrade shit-tier prebuilts, and aren't expecting to max out any game with it. And while yes, there's the argument where you should save more money for a better GPU, sometimes, you're like me, who doesn't get a whole lot of money at a time and absolutely HAS to settle on what they can get their hands on.

Has turnip, no vote.

Edited the poll. You can vote now in that question with a "no." Of course, I can get rid of it altogether.

How much money would be spent on "shit-tier" pre-builts exactly? I remember Nvidia issuing a $650 gaming PC challenge when they released the GTX 950 graphics card which targets a very mainstream audience who can't afford the higher-end stuff that tends to last longer when compared to game's system requirements. I mean it's possible that you can aim for a value-ended build and get really solid performance and possibly even turning up some game settings if desired. I'm not trying to hate on you for that statement, because yes I do agree with one small statement that you made, but he wasn't targeting the pre-built audience since most people have built their own systems from scratch.

I mean I see where Linus goes with this but he's applying it to the wrong audience for this card. Now if he did it for say, the R7 260 or the GTX 750, I wouldn't mind since those cards have no reason to exist.

My 1st LTT video I watch was on the MSI GT80 Titan.

I was browsing PCCaseGear and wanted to see the specs of the most expensive laptop

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/32376

Then I looked at the most expensive GPU about 1 month latter

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/31836

That started my addiction and proves that Linus only reviews expensive shit!

He has reviewed some midrange-tier cards. Recently he reviewed the GTX 950 GPU from Nvidia with the Asus offering; the Strix. He found it to be a good card for what the target audience is with that card.

When it comes to companies wanting exposure and review of any tiered product, they would send it to reviewers for them to, review it and tell the people what they think about it.

Was watching hardwarecanucks and saw, a LTT video in the suggested section.

Started to watch a few (subscrubbed) and saw a giveaway pop up.

That lead to the forum which helped me substantially in understanding computer parts and building my rig.

It's one of those things where I was exposed to it through Youtube recommendations for a while before I really took notice and hit subscribe.

I may have found NCIXTechTips first, I'm not 100% sure. Can't remember how long ago either. Like many of my now favourite Youtube channels, it was a vague thing on my periphery for a while and then all of a sudden I watched a few, realized how awesome it is and then watched more and subscribed.
