Tor launches anti-censorship Messenger service.

PCBjon

Giving the recent talks about getting rid of encryption from the UK as well as other countries I think this is a welcoming bit of news.

Users wishing to remain anonymous or access chat clients blocked in their own country could use Tor Messenger to chat via services like Facebook Chat, Google Talk, Twitter, Yahoo and Internet Relay Chat.

The program does not communicate via what's often called the "dark web", a collection of hidden websites and services, but rather by sending messages across a series of internet relays (or routers) so that their origin cannot be tracked.

These relays are called "bridges".

Ok yes Tor can be used for illegal things but It can also be used for your privacy as well, Im sure ye all know that.

What are your thoughts on the matter, do you think Tor are doing us a service or just helping criminals?

If you asked me and i am not saying you did, tor should be eradicated or made to eradicate ALL the illegal activity that is conducted on it. - Leonard (me)

This would be impossible due to the encrypted nature of Tor.

In order for encryption to be effective, it cannot have backdoors by design.  This means that criminals can use it just as anyone else can.

It's a joke, getting rid of encryption. It's matter of principle more than anything else really. People should not accept stupid things, but sadly people over time are, "yeah, oh well. whatever for that to. what can you do...". Such a bad attitude.

I don't think UK politicians would like that. Especially not since they got such a high amount of pedophiles high up in the government.

If you are a pedophile, UK is a great place to live in. Only if you are rich and/or powerful though. If you are and is then caught even the royal family and MPs will come to your rescue.

Hell, detectives who are investigating a pedophile case will stop the investigation if it is discovered that some of the criminals are politicians.

Oh and if you dare to speak up against this? Then you will be arrested.

But don't worry about the children speaking out. A recent law change in the UK makes it illegal for children currently in care to speak out if they are treated poorly.

My friend from the UK who follows a lot of this stuff jokingly said that being a pedophile is essentially a requirement to become a politician in the UK.

Here is a link, which links to several lists of reports regarding all the fucked up stuff UK politicians does and gets away with. And yes I know it's a reddit post in /r/conspiracy but before dismissing it because of that please note that it is just a compilation of stories from "mainstream sources and presented without commentary". All the links to stories in that thread are from regular newspapers like The Guardian, Mirror and Telegraph and so on.

So when politicians in the UK say that they want to ban encryption, please remember that a lot of them will continue to encrypt their own things because they are literally hiding child pornography. They just want access to innocent citizens' computers.

Oh, trust me, with how complicated and convoluted the laws in most countries are, literally everyone has done something illegal at some point. All it takes is for you to be worth someone's time to draw up something you did and prosecute you.
